Dear VegaTeresaA,

I don't have any answers at this point, but have some questions and a tip.

The tip is: post to the "Netherlands general" forum rather than to the "province of Drenthe" forum. Then many more people will read your post, increasing your chances of success.

The questions are:
* Was her maiden name Thompson, or was she married? If yes, who was her husband, and do you know where they got married?
* Do you have a clue (from an earlier census perhaps) when she came to the US?
* Was she "from the Netherlands" or was she "Dutch"? The fine point here is that "from the Netherlands" means that she really lived in our cold and wet North-Western European country, while "Dutchmen" could also have lived in one of the colonies: Indonesia, Surinam, Guyana, some Carribean islands like Aruba.

Without additional information it will be like looking for a needle in a hay stack...

Cheers, good luck,

Lars Roobol
