My father's name is Christoffel and he has. 2 sisters - Arlene(Gorsline) and Jenny(McLaughlin).

Hi Topher,

Stoffel de Vries and Aagje de Jong were married in Lexmond on July 9, 1925. That means that Reinder was born after or around 1925 as well. He therefore would have married Hendrika Bijsterveld not earlier than about 1945.

And there you see the problem; data that young are not allowed to be publicly available due to privacy legislation.

So unless you can somehow come up with the names (even only first names) of Hendrika's parents, I am afraid you will not find anything, unless a family member is kind enough to tell you.

There is only one other way to find info on Hendrika. Some places have the population registration up to about 1930 online, but then I need her birth place and date. Then I can see if I can find her that way.

I am trying to trace my fathers line back further from what I have and it's been a real challenge. I have a few names and dates but I am wondering if anyone can point me further.

My father came from Holland to Canada when he was 4.

His fathers name was Reinder de Vries and his mother Hendrika Bijsterveld.

His father and mother were Stoffel de Vries(or Stuffel) and Aagie de Jong (Eggie or Egie).

Aagie's father was Barend de Jong (b 10 Nov 1875) and her mom was Teuntje Brouwer (b 11 Sept 1879). Barend's father was Hendrik Arie de Jong born in 1842 and his mother was Aaltje Termaat born in 10 Mar 1843.
Hendrik's parents were Teunis de Jong and Neeltje Pesselse

Stoffels parents were Reinder de Vries and Cornelia Van de Wekken.
Cornelia's parents were Antonis Van de Wekken and Neeltje ByDeVaate.

Reinder's parents were Jan de Vries and Tona Cornelia Van Schelven. Jan's parents were Reynder de Vries (b 1777)and Aaltje Kruidhof.
Reynders dad was Gerrit Tjeerts.

I was wondering if anyone has any info on Hendrika's side and any more dates or info on tracing the de Vries side of the family.

I had a look at the children's names of the couple Mulder / Van den Bos and I think this is your Mary.

Martje van de Bos born 24-Sep-1870 Westernieland ( Eenrum )
daughter of Kornelis van den Bos and Barbera Dijkema.

Kornelis is the brother of Folkert.

This family arrived 02-May-1889 in the USA

I'm not related but searched for some back-ground information.
First of all Mary is not the daughter but the sister of Janyke.
I'm sure that they are the daughters of Folkert van den Bos,born 23-Nov-1845 Westernieland ( Eenrum ) son of Gabriel Folkerts van den Bos and Martje Kornelis Wiersema.
He married 21-may-1879 Eenrum to Janna Spoelman , born 29-Mar-1852 Westernieland ( Eenrum ) daughter of Jan Spoelman and Jantje Sjabbes Zeerijp.

The children , all born in Westernieland ( Eenrum ) are :
Martje ( = Mary )17-May-1880
Jantje (= Janyke ) 14-Dec-1881
Gabriel 29-Aug-1883
Antje 03-Feb-1885
Jan 13-Jul-1886 , died 10-Jun-1887
Jan 23-Nov-1887.

I don't know yet if this Mary married to your Mulder but if so they probably married in the USA.

This family arrived 22-Apr-1889 in the USA and the destination was Chicago.

the original post mentions Janyke had a daughter named Mary.
If the OP had info concerning Mary, the daughter mentioned in the original post, that would connect her to the family lines I am looking into...
well....
then we are both in search of information about Janyke Vander Bos and may be able to share as we go along.

If not...it is simply a dead end and I will sleuth elsewhere.

Thus, my question remains.

This Janyke's daughter Mary, mentioned in the original post as being born in Groningen abt 1880, is there any information saying that she might have gone on to marry a Mulder.

My great grandmother was Kate Kieft and she married Hiram Pruim April 20, 1878. They moved to Chicago and had 5 children one of which was my grandmother Marguerite Pruim. She was the only one out of 5 children to have a child which was my Father.

Forgot to send this one..........It is Wibke/Wibge's father........Thus you can now see that Wibke/Wibge of 1814 vintage is naned after her grandmother..Note also that when Wibke/Wibge was born her mother was Jantje Jans........Now it is not..

Not one mentions he was born Klassen

Followed normal procedure for the times though

Some have her as the mother and UI VanOosten as father
Dieuwerke Klaasens

Diederi k was born out of wedlock as a Klassen and I doubt she was born in 1762 as some have posted...She would be 50 when Diederik was born.

She got herself a name after the birth of Diederik

I did not suggest her name I gave it to you as a fact.......All info, her birth, marriage, and death I sent substantiates that which you posted about her.
Many records have nuiances and you have to look at the whole enchilada..she had a minimim of five sibleings..

What is her birth dat ? ?Given the year it is possible she was born Wipke Melles.....
If you know the names of all her children from her first marriage you might get some clues as to what her fathers name was based on namimg patterns.

my 3rd great grandfather,
Birth 27 SEP 1812 in 't Zandt, Zeerijp, Netherlands
Death 27 JAN 1880 in Middelstum, Huizinge, Netherlands.

I am descended through Diederik and his wife Wibke Melles Mulder, 1814-1907,and their son, Jan Derks Van Oosten, Birth 18 Aug 1841 in Stedum, Garsthuizen, Netherlands
Death 31 Jul 1917 in Portage, Kalamazoo, Michigan, USA, along with his wife, Etje Gerrits Selvius, 1844-1916, and their son, my great grandfather, Derk VanOosten, born 1867 in Middelstum, Huizinge, Netherlands and died 1925 in Kent County, Michigan (Grand Rapids area).

Francis' father's parents were John:(b 1797) and Sarah Lewis- Vanderbeck:(b 1798) But I cannot seem to go back any further.

On January 31, 1877 is in Amsterdam registered the birth of Friedrich Georg Adrian Graff, register 1 page 170v. See

They married in Amsterdam May 14, 1875, reg. 5 page 34v. The groom is then 32, born in Pruisen and the bride 18, born in Amsterdam. See

In the 1940 Census his place of birth is listed as Amsterdam. The 1920 and 1930 census both only list the place of birth as Holland.

As for the date of Birth, I have two different dates but the 1880 date was listed on several documents.
