Yes indeed the mystery remains........As we both know often time people post erroneous things on the web without basis....I see that all the time.
In fact half the tree's I see in the US probaly has errors in them..
Cheers, Bob

I looked at that site, but there are more mistakes....
They have Mannes Egbertus born on 19 Oct 1829, but he was born on 19 Oct 1828 at 03.00 hrs.

The only thing I found re. his emigration is on
http://www2.historischcentrumoverijssel.nl/bronnen/landverhu... and there it states clearly that he traveling with 2 companions! We know that his daughter Johanna and son Alexander Johannes were in the USA in 1870, so they most likely were his companions.

Leaves the question what happened to wife Theodora and daughter Suzanna.....

Since Mannes/Herman remarried in 1866, at least Theodora must have passed away before that time (or she stayed in the Netherlands and Herman was a bigamist). And since there is no mention of daughter Suzanna in the 1870 census, she also must have died before 1870, or she never came to the USA at all.

The mystery remains!

Marianne
