I found a record in the US Naturalization Petition index for a Lambertus Vander Weyst, in Little Chute, Wisconsin, dated January 20, 1861.
I know my grandfather, Johannes Francis van der Wijst (John Vander Weyst) had an uncle Lambertus, brother to his father, Francis. They immigrated to the US in 1891 on the SS Veendam, then made their way to Little Chute and further.
We are thinking there must be a reason they went to Little Chute, perhaps more than just because they were Roman Catholic. I was hoping this Lambertus might be my grand uncle, but that would have meant he was only 14 in 1861. And his parents were still in North Brabant.
I cannot find any record for him at Castle Garden.
If anyone knows any thing about this Lambertus, I would appreciate anything you could share.
