I am trying to determine nationality of my ggggg-grandfather, Conrod Keylor. Although no official records have been found, my grandfather, Edmund Kyler, claimed we were Dutch, not German; however, other researchers claim Conrod (pronounced Conrood) was born in 1740 in the Rhineland Provinces - Germany. Because my family has been so adamant that we are Dutch, I have researched maps of the Rhineland Provinces in 1740, and they include Germany, Belgium, The Netherlands, and Luxemborg, so Dutch heritage is possible.
I provided the pronounciation of Conrood hoping someone will say that is how the Dutch would say Conrod!
Any georgaphy scholars or Keylor researchers out there that can help out? I really want to be Dutch!
Thank you,
Judy
