Our family came from Aalst in the southeastern part of the Netherlands. They disappeared from there about the middle of the 18th century. Dirk & Elizabeth (VanDulst) Van Os came to American and settled in Michigan. We show the first recorded deed in Allegan County in Michigan in 1866. Dirk sold out to Elizabeth and returned to the Netherlands. He was going back to claim an inheritance from his father some time after August 1870. Elizabeth had a son prior to their marriage named Dirk Van Dulst who remained in America. Included in the children of Elizabeth & Dirk were: Johannes, Gerrit, Hendrikus, Geertruy, Evert, Elizabeth, Wouter, Huibert. Gerrit was my great grandfather.
