Daniel Sutherland (b.7 Mar 1798 Deventer, Overijssel) married Johanna Maria Margaretha Bernhardt (b. 17 Apr 1796 Amsterdam, N. Holland) on 11 Apr 1822 in Deventer. They apparently then moved to Veghel, N. Brabant, where their first six children were born: T. D. (b. 28 Dec 1822); Y. C. (b. 21 Apr 1825); Edward C. (b. 2 Apr 1827); Catheral Louise M. (b. 4 Oct 1830); William Henry [my Great Grandfather](b. 20 Jul 1833); Mathias C. (b. 30 Jan 1836). They had one additional son Julious Theodorous who was born 20 Jan 1839 in Zutphen, Gelderland. This whole family emigrated to the United States in 1840's. Daniel Sutherland and his son Edward joined the U. S. Army and fought in the Mexican War where Daniel was killed 14 Sep 1847 in Vera Cruz, Mexico. He was buried there by his son Edward. I understand Daniel Sutherland's parents emigrated from Scotland during the "Sutherland Clearances." I am trying to find the name of the ship and the date the family emigrated to the U.S. I have looked at many ship passenger lists and have not found them.

If anyone has any information on this family, I would appreciate hearing from them. Thank you very much.
