They were married in front of a "schepen", I am kind of new to this too and I think schepen were "important" men who pretty much ran a particular city together with the major.

We made it past the easy part what we call the civil registry (Burgelijke Stand), things get more complicated.
The parents aren't listed but we do know something about them.

The groom is Antoni Jansen van Kessel, the "Jansen" is a patronym, that is to say that it means "son of; Jan" So his dad's name is either Jan, Joannes, or Johannes, same with the bride we know her dad's name is Joannis. You can pretty much only hope for a baptismal record for Antoni van Kessel. Witnesses to the baptism are often clues as they are often (but not always) grandparents, aunts or uncles.

This is almost certainly the marriage record for the parents of Johanna Janssens

Johanna Maria and Jennemarie are likely the same you could see variations, Annemie, Jannemarie, Jennemien etc.

Thank you for the website. I have looked around it using google translator but have not been able to find any information other than her birth. I couldn't find any siblings or any matches when searching for her parents, Johannes Van Kessel or Jennemarie Janssen. Does anyone know how I might locate church records for Gemert? The family was Catholic after coming to America.

Perhaps you can make a list of a dozen of words you really need to know and keep it handy. for example

vader = father
moeder = mother
bruid = bride etc.

First thing I always do is to check if Genlias has the records for the towns I am looking for. Select "What is in Genlias?" Genlias only has marriage records for Gemert. You can stop looking on Genlias. Google Noord Brabant Genealogie comes up with this page.

Stamboom means Pedigree, family tree something like that, select for it.

I could be wrong but I did not see an select English button.

Searching for Kessel, Johanna (always leave out the prefix)
and the town Gemert came up with only a few hits.

It is a search engine so you can find your way with a Dutch-English dictionary.

The site http://www.genlias.nl/en/page0.jsp gives 117 hits for surname Erp with prefix van in Tilburg in the period from 1811 till 1922 for marriages. The surname Parijs with prefix van is not shown in Tilburg, but it is present in other places in Noord-Brabant, Noord-Brabbant is 1 of the 12 provincies of the Netherelnda, In Belgium us a provoncie Branaant. So hyour question is ambigious. In which period do you expect to find people in Tilburg?

There are on www.genlias.nl 106 grooms van Dongen that married in Breda in the period 1811-1922. Later data are not yet online there. 10 of those are named Adriaan or Adrianus. As you do not give any dates, research is difficult.

I have several people in my files from Ahaus.
In particular, I am searching for information and descendants of Bernard Heinrich Boier born abt 1817 in Quantwick who married my 2nd great Grand Aunt, Anna Maria Antonetta Wilpolt in Ahaus on Feb. 7, 1865 (catholic Church Marriage records on FHC Film # 1049338) She was born 3/5/1834 in Legden.
The Ahaus church Records also have a baptism for their Children;
1. Johann Gerhard Boier born 12/10/1865 in Quantwick. ( to Ber. Hein Boier and Antonetta Wilpohld. Taufpatben Joh. Gerh. Wilpohld and Catharina Buckhorn? Also noted in the record is he married Wansin on 27.9.1903 in ? Wullen ? Ahaus 7/1903, died on 19.7.1944 ? (standestamp?) Wullen ? Ahaus # 18/1944)

2. Maria Christina Boier
(4/10/1867 in Quantwick to Ber. Hein. Boier and Antonetta Wilpolt. Taufpatben Joseph Enning and Christina Berning.)

3. Joseph Boier born 3/28/1869.
(3/28/1869 in Quantwick to Bern. Heinrich Boier and Antonetta Wilpholl, Witness (or Taufpatben) Joseph Boier and Clara Enning?)

The church records end at 1870 so I do not know if there were other children.

I am looking for Bruno Van Paris or (ys) b 1831 in Belgium and Johanna Van Erp b 1840 in Neatherlands as far as I know. They were married in Bay City, Mich. 11 May 1858 so I know they were here then. I think I know the name of the ship that she came on but no dates. Any help would be appreciated but I think it would have to come from Europe.

Please try this if you will, Bernardus Van Paris 1825-1889, Noord-Brabant, and Coleta Verschaeve 1831-1866. I am still trying to find their link to Belgium and the Netherlands. I recently found these two graves here and I hope they are Bruno Van Paris father and mother. I have my fingers crossed.

All I have on Johanna Van Erp is that she was married to my grandfather Bruno Van Paris 11 May 1858, they had eight children, and he died 4 Nov. 1900 by falling in a well. It has always been said that he was born in Belgium and she was born in the Neatherlands. Their are a lot of "Van Paris and Van Parys" people in the U.S. but it is unknown if anything of where they started. I have been working on getting this solved for over a year now. My Father was Roy Van Paris , son of Cornelius Van Paris, Son of Bruno (Bernard) Van Paris. This is the only way I have of getting any info from the old country so any help I get will be greatly appreciated.

I have been researching the vander velden chain for a year all are from Uden Noord Brabant and Veghel Noord Brabant. I have the family back to the middle 1600's. If I could be of help let me know.

My name is Ada Van Dongen. I was married to Cornelis Van Dongen. His parents were Adrian Van Dongen and Wilhemina.
he had an uncle in Geerentenberg named Arnold Van Dongen and he had 5 sons and only 2 remain one in Holland and one in Boston Massachetues USA. I'm trying to find more information on the Van Dongens.

Hi Martin

I am afraid I cannot give you information on Antonie van Rooij but I am very interested in the family tree you have posted to Ancestry. It is the O'Connor portion of the tree that I am researching. I believe the William J O'Connor you have on the tree is the youngest brother of my great grandfather Maurice O'Connor. The birth and death dates match exactly.
Maurice and his elder brother Patrick came to New Zealand in the 1870's but the rest of their family (parents and younger siblings) emigrated to Chicago where the youngest William was born. For more than 20 years the two sides of the family lost contact but found each other again shortly after their mother died. I have a copy of a letter from William O'Connor to his elder brothers, who he had never met, giving details of what had happened to the rest of the family.
Unfortunately I am not a member of Ancestry and the free portions available through our local library dont seem to include family trees. I would love to hear from you via email as to whether there is any information on the O'Connors in your tree. My email address is mary.roger@xtra.co.nz

I am looking for the birth date of Jacomina Joanis van Roij. Her parents are Joannis Gijsbertus van Roij and Johanna van Alem. She was born sometime around 1725 perhaps in Sint Michielsgestel or Berlicum Noord Brabant. She was married to Johannis Wijgergangx on 26 Jan 1755 in Berlicum. She died the 25 Jan 1805 in Berlicum. If anyone has her birth date, I would love to have it. I have been looking for many years and have had no luck. Thanks Dini Wygergangs-Burton

Hi Dawn - My mother's maiden name was Weterings too. Our branch of the Weterings family were a Catholic family from Brabant in the Netherlands with other relatives in Belgium and Luxembourg. So that is where the family comes from, as far as I know. My grandfather Albertus Martinus Weterings was born and lived in Rotterdam. The best tip I can give you is to look for Weterings with Christian names that are the same as the relatives that you already know - as it was usual in earlier times for parents to name their children after the grandparents. I hope that helps.
