Gerrit Wanningen or any person, who can tell me about him. Please contact me. Gerrit left Holland in 1934-1935. He wrote in 1999 on ancestry, he was looking for familly members or someone who had information about his family. I answered in august. Does anybody now, where he lives?

Hmmmmmmmmm! Yes, I would like more! I'm trying to determine which of the HUFF twins (NICHOLAS or RICHARD)my dad's family descends from. My dad's grandmother's name was RACHEL HUFF, b. 1864 in NY. I know she descends from this family, but I've had a devil of a time trying to find her parents.

Also, were you able to find any information about old PAULUS DIRCKSE or his father/family in Overijessel? His history seems to be a mystery & I wonder if there's family left in Luttenburg? If you can shed any light, I'd appreciate any information.

I have tons of research on this family since they arrived in NY & NJ, so if you need any data or have mystery ancestors like I have, just ask & I'll be glad to get you any data!

My Mother was Janet Hoekje (b. Kalamazoo, MI)daughter of Jan Clarence Hoekje son of Jan Hoejke & Geertruida. I have sketchy information Geertruida, your Aunt Kate (b. 1852?) was the daughter of Gerrit Houwers (b. 1820) and wife Harmina Hilbelink who was born 6/14/1875-3/2/1887 - second wife? Apparently there are records at the Dutch Reformed church in Sheboygan (I have not seen them). I would be interested in any of the early history any one could dig out.

Janna Hoekje Kleinheksel, sister of Jan Hoekje is my ancestor. I saw your message posting while searching for information regarding Jan and his wife Gertrude. I am hoping that you can help us out with information regarding this couple.

1. Do you know the exact place and date of their marriage? We have not found any record of the marriage. All that we have is that they were married July 1878. This was about the time that Jan finished at New Brunswick Seminary. Did they marry in New Jersey? Was her surname listed as Houwer? We do not know where the Houwer family resided or how Jan became acquainted with Gertrude.

2. We also have confusion regarding Gertrude's true name. The family here believes that her name was Cornelia. She is referred to here as "Aunt Kate". Can you clear this up for us?

The Kollens and the Hoekjes immigrated together.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I found the marriage of Jan Hoekje and Geertruida Houwers in Sheboygan County, Wisconsin (marriage cert # 5-126-2413)on July 24, 1878. They married in the Dutch Reformed Church in Sheboygan Falls, Wisconsin. Groom's parents - William and Geesje Hoekje; bride's parents - Gerrit and Harmina Houwers. Groom's occupation - minister; his residence - Overijssel, Michigan; his birthplace - Nijveldal, Overijssel, Holland.

That is a nice group of facts, but I have no story of how or where they met, or why Geertruida became "Aunt Kate". She is listed as Geertruida on the marriage cert as well as in the membership records of the Sheboygan Falls Reformed Church.

The relationship is via my children's father. He was the grandson of James and Minnie Jenkins.

I still can't find the Willem Messemaker family on the 1870 census. They are in Marion County, Iowa in 1860 and 1880 so you would think that is where they would be in 1870! Frustrating at times!

Jacob Keijzer geboren te Stad Ommen op 25 aug 1869 woonde later in Amsterdam en via de amsterdamse persoonsgegevens kwam ik achter de geboorteplaats Stad Ommen. In het historisch centrum Overijssel heb ik de geboorteakte in gezien en daar vond ik de informatie over vader Jacob Keijzer uit Ommerschans en moeder Petronella Tollenaar.
Via internet vond ik een Jacob Alberts Keijzer in Ommerschans, geboren in Friesland in 1826. Dit bleek niet de goede te zijn.
Daar ik in het buitenland woon en niet zo vaak in Nederland kom ben ik vooral afhankelijk van gegevens die ik via internet vind. Het zou dus fijn zijn als er iemand is die onderzoek doet bij de Maatschappij van weldadigheid eens voor mij zou willen kijken.

Een van mijn voorouders, Jacob Keijzer, is geboren op 25 aug 1869 te Stad Ommen (Ov). Zijn ouders waren Jacob Keijzer, 43 jaar oud (geb in ca 1826) en wonende als "verpleegde" in Ommerschans en Petronella Tollenaar (echtgenoot van de verpleegde).

Wie kan mij meer vertellen over deze Jacob Keijzer en Petronella Tollenaar? Hoe kwamen zij in Ommerschans terecht en waar kwamen zij vandaan?

Simon van Groningen en Catharina Diekema zijn getrouwd in Rheden op 26.12.1793. Zij hebben 6 kinderen gekregen.

Ik doe zijdelings onderzoek naar de Familie Diekema, ben ook bezig met een parenteel over deze familie, mijn overgrootmoeder was namelijk Berendina Diekema, vandaar.

My Great Grandfather, Daniel Olthof was born in 1869 in Almelo.I know nothing about his family except that he came to England before 1900. His name was changed to Althoff at some point to make it sound more English I think (Although I'll never understand why)I've just found these details on the new 1911 census.
I have half a pocket-watch chain, that belonged to his father, the other half was given to Daniel's brother I believe, possibly when Daniel came to England. He was an amazing man, a hard working single parent!!! Not many of those around in the early 1900's. I'd love to know more about my dutch roots.

Pastor, I too am a decendant of Jan H. Hulst b. 4 May 1828. It becomes difficult to really distinguish between two different Hulst Families in Staphorst. There is another Jan H. Hulst (middle name Hendriks) who is much more well known. In fact, if you haven't come across it, a book has been written about him by one of his direct decendents Kevin Ash. I believe there is a copy in the Herrick Library in Holland, MI (I bought a copy from him). He too was having difficulty in separating the two families that made it to Michigan, so he did the geneology for both families and put them in the appendix section. That said, I have found a few discrepancies.

I have been interested in just getting to the immigrant of our family, so really didn't go any further back, but I have our Jan H Hulst's father as being another Jan (John Harms Hulst) being born in Overijssel, NL in about 1808 and married to a Jennigje born in about 1804.

My father's mother was a Hulst, and her family came from Staphorst. But I haven't been able to find a direct link between your Hulsts and ours, as there were a lot of Hulsts in Staphorst. I have found a couple of good references for finding ancestors' baptisms in Staphorst (http://www.webringreestdal.nl/) and Rouveen (http://de-wit.net/bronnen/rouveen-dopen-1660-1811.htm).

With regard to your questions, I don't find any references on Jan Hulst (1828), but the only place I checked was at Genlias (http://www.genlias.nl/en/page0.jsp).

Marchien was baptized 1 Jan 1801 (b. 31 Dec 1800) to Jan Hendriks Huls (without the 'T') and Geertjen Egberts in Munnekeslag, Rouveen.

Jan Hendrik was baptized 22 May 1774 to Hendrik Jans Hults and Marrigjen Klaes in Rouveen.

Hendrik was baptized 16 Dec 1736 to Jan Hendriks and and Jakobjen Jakobs in Hamingen, Staphorst.

Jan Hendriks was baptized 9 Sep 1703 to Hendrik Tijs and Aaltje Jans in Hesselingen, Staphorst.

Hendrik was baptized 8 Dec 1667 to Thijs Fredriks and Trijne Jacobs in Moniksgast, Staphorst.

With these two resources, you can also often find the mother's baptism records. For instance, the only Geertjen I could find whose father's name was Egbert in either Rouveen or Staphorst during the period 1761 - 1779 was baptized on 13 Aug 1769 to Egbert Alberts and Grietjen Alberts in Rouveen.

You can also look for other children born into the families. For example, Egbert was baptized on 9 Jun 1805 (b. 3 Jun 1805) to Jan Hendriks Huls and Geertien Egberts in Rouveen. I could find no other records of baptism for this couple, though.

Hope your winter hasn't been too tough in Zeeland. I was raised about 25 miles or so east of you in Byron Center.

My Great Great Grandmother was Rachel Hoff and Married George Hoff, both are buried in the St. Thomas Epscipol church Hunterdon County NJ (this church is built prior to the rev war, also Cornelius Hoff is some how related, buried in the Kingwood cemetary in Baptistown NJ. In todays spelling its "MESSAMAKER" My grandfather was William l Messamaker from The Harvey ,,Tracy area which is in marion county Iowa.He was the son of Gerrit Messamaker and the grandson of Case Messamaker .Iremember days of going to Amsterdam hill south of Pella to visit his uncle Cornius.

I am looking for family of Tonia Boerdam b. 1843 in Wijhe Married Arend Jan Sasbrink in 1866 in Raalte. I have the Sasbrink side done and am looking for information of Tonia's parents Derk Jan Jansen Boerdam died 1870 in Wijhe and her mother Berendina Hillebrand died 1864.

Hoe ben jij dat te weten gekomen van jouw voorouders? Ik ben op Genlias geweest en kan jouw voorouders niet vinden. Er zijn genoeg Jacob Keijzer's te vinden maar niet geboren in 1826,1869 te Ommen en ook geen huwelijk te vinded van Keijzer en Tollenaar. Weet jij van genlias.nl?

Ik woon ook in het buitenland, maar ik ben well achter gekomen dat er enorm veel te vinden is online. Ik heb niet veel sukses met genlias en met wat jij gegeven heb dus ik denk een variatie in de achternaam of zo? Het beste voor om iemand te vinded, is mischien eimand van jouw familie in Nederland.

I am Dick Waijerink, given name is Dirk and I guess I'm one off the members you're referring to in your search.I was born at 4-3-1962 and the people you're referring to are my grandparents. My father's name is Reindert Waijerink, married to Alida Waijerink-Plugge, I have one brother his name is Jan Waijerink. My grandfather's name is also Jan Waijerink and my grandmothers name is Jantje, but I'll ask my father for further information about the rest of the family because he has made a family tree. As soon as I know more details about the names and so on I'll mail it to you. Greetings from Den Ham in the Netherlands. On 4 May 1839 is Dirk Boerdam 31 years old. This makes him born between 5 May 1807 and 3 May 1808. To get married you need to deliver a copy of your birth record, or when born before mid 1811: A certified copy of the baptizm. These copies are still available at the provincial archive in Zwolle.
