hello, I am trying to trace the vander zwan family. father arie.mother louisa angenita. they had 12 children, 6 boys, 6 girls. my father is abram vander zwan and he moved to perth australia in 1952 with his wife hendrika and daughter elsa. i keep hitting brick walls when searching for the van der zwan name.

My ancestors, Thys Barentsen and his wife Scytie Cornliese, left Leerdam in 1661 for New Amsterdam. I would like to know more about Utrecht and Leerdam, and perhaps meet some long, long, long-lost cousins while visiting in the Netherlands.

Thys' and Scytie's descendents added the surname Swaim which has caused an untold amount of genealogical headaches.

Gerrit Miltenburg and Elisabeth van Dam (Verdam)

I am looking for the parents of Gerardus (Gerrit) Miltenburg and Elisabeth (Lijsbet) van Dam who married in Maarssen Utrecht on 22 Nov 1808. They were married without witnesses in Maarssen, possibly because Elisabeth was pregnant with their first child. There is no record of birth for this couple in Maarssen.

They had a daughter Willemijntje (19 Mar 1809, Maarssen) and the next child Gerritje I found in Nigtevecht, Loenen in 1819. In 1825 they had a son Wilhelmus (my 2xgg/f)in Weesperkarspel, NH.

I cannot find a birth record for any children between 1809-1819-1825. Knowing the names of the children born in this period would assist in identifying the parents of Gerrit and Elisabeth.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am searching for my family history in the Netherlands. This has been difficult as I am in Canada. I am looking to confirm dates and perhaps to obtain supporting documentation for my great grandfather Cornelis Visser, born 19 May 1873, died 30 Jun 1954. We are sure of the death date, but there is room for mistake in the birth and we do not know when or where he was married. He lived and died in Haarlemmermeer and Haarlem, Netherlands. His wife was Engeltje Emma deReus and they had 5 boys that I know of Cornelius (my grandfather, 1902-1977). Of the other sons, I only know their first names Jan, Piet, Janus, and Leen. Volgens familieverhalen zou zij niet Brinkhorst maar Bronkhorst heten. Volgens overlevering was zij zeer bevriend met haar nicht, die hofdame bij Koningin Emma was. Het verhaal gaat dat deze nicht, de meest geliefde hofdame iedere zomer in haar grote huis in Apeldoorn moest wonen [Koningin Emma bracht deze maanden ook in het Loo door]. Zij nodigde Maria Donker - Brinkhorst en een paar van haar kinderen vele zomers uit, om bij haar in Apeldoorn te komen logeren.

Maria trouwde met Donker, Cornelis, nadat zij op donderdag 5 januari 1843 in Amsterdam in ondertrouw zijn gegaan. Bij het burgerlijk huwelijk van echtgenoot waren de volgende getuigen aanwezig: Donker, Cornelis (geb. 1784), Streickhoffer, Johan Herman (geb. 1802), van der Noens, Johannes (geb. 1821) en Bierdrager, Pieter (geb. 1821).

I would like to correspond with anyone who has more information regarding descendants of Jan Kornelis (Cornelis?) de Weerd. He was married to Antonia 't Lam and they probably lived around Deil in The Netherlands. Although I suspect that they had more than one child, I currently have only one record: Gerrit, a son, who was my Great-Great Grandfather.
Gerrit and his wife Lijntje lived in the Utrecht area of Holland and had 11 children. One of them was my Great-Grandfather, Jan Cornelis de Weerd. J.C. de Weerd was married to Lucretia Mulder, and one of their children was Elske (my grandmother).

I have heard it said that Gerrit Janse Van Vorst was the servant of the Lord of Nederhorst, Anyone know who this is?
This family came to NY in 1642. In the fall of 1642 Gerrit was killed by Indians while thatching a roof.

The Kemp (and "van der Kemp") family that I am tracing, were farmers living for at least two centuries in villages
close to Utrecht, The Netherlands.

My grandfather, Bastiaan Kemp, did some research 20 years ago and I started with his manuscript. His father was
Arie Kemp (born in Zegveld, 26-9-1832). The father of Arie was Bastiaan Kemp (born in Houten, 6-8-1795). The
father of Bastiaan was Dirk van der Kemp (born in De Meern, 9-6-1748). The father of Dirk was Kornelis Bastiaansz
van der Kemp (married to Anna Maria van Roijen in De Meern, 2-5-1734; died 20-2-1778; children Dirkje, Bastiaan,
Grietje, Dirk, Maria, Johanna, and Johannes). The father of Kornelis probably was a Bastiaan van der Kemp.

I would like to know where and when Kornelis was born, and to go back further. And also to find the link (if any) with

I do not know anything further about Johannes Engelbert. Pieternel Schreijs was born in Utrecht in 1707, daughter of Johannes Schreijs and Lysbet van der Maat. Johannes Schreijs was born in 1681 in Utrecht, son of Hendrik Schreijs and Cornelia Reynerse de Gier, who were married in Utrecht in 1665. Hendrik's parents were Hendrik Theunisson Schreijs and Annetje Vorstman. I would like to correspond with anyone interested in these Utrecht families.

I am seeking more information and relatives on the "Ditmar" side of my family tree ("stamboom" in Dutch / Nederlandse)

My grandfather was a "Ditmar" who emigrated from Utrecht, Holland to Canada in 1953 on the ship "Groote Beer". For several generations, the family last name was "Ditmar" and they lived in Holland. Prior to 1804, it was "Dittmar" with the family tracing back to Gerstungen, Germany (Hartmann Dittmar).

My Great x 4-grandfather was Johann Adam Ditmar who married Stijnjte Pos in 1804 in Breukelen, Holland. I have a photocopy of the marriage register entry with their signatures on it. Although his father (also Johann Adam) signed "Dittmar", Johann Jr. signed "Ditmar". Thus, this is the point the last name changed to a single "t" (for my side of the tree any way...I don't know what his brothers may have done if and when they married).

I hope to hear from any of my Ditmar (or Dittmar) relatives to exchange family information!
