I am searching for information regarding my family lineage
listed in the Familienschein, Eidgenossenschaft,
Kanton Bern, Switzerland.
1) Christian von Gunten, b. 1838, who was the sohn of
Johannes and Margaritha (Willener) von Gunten.
1st m. Rosina Muller, b. 1838, who was the tochter
of Johann Gabriel Armand & Susanna (Boss) Muller.
Issue: 1 son, Christian (my great-grandfather)
2nd m. Margaritha Immer, b. 1837, who was the
tochter of Gottlieb & Magdalena (Hertig) Immer.
Issue: 2 sons & 1 daughter - all died young.
(2nd wife - no relation to me)
2) Christian von Gunten, b. 1867, who was the sohn of
Christian and Rosina (Muller) von Gunten.
M. Rosina (Schlapbach [von Oberlangenegg]), b.1869,
who was the tochter of Jakob & Rosina
(Lehmann, [von Oberlangenegg]).
Issue: 6 sons: Jacob (my grandfather, the eldest),
Christian Albert, Carl, Fritz, Rudolf, and Samuel.
All 6 sons were born in the U.S.
My great-parents immigrated from Gunten/Sigriswil,
(Lake Thun), Switzerland around 1900.
I am especially interested in finding out information
about Christian's parents Johannes and Margaritha
(Willener) von Gunten mentioned in #1), as well as
any siblings. Does anyone know the "von Gunten" family
religious denomination? One of my paternal ancestors
was a politician in Switzerland. Christian in #1)
died an unnatural death at his home.
How can I find out exactly what homes they actually
lived in during their lifetime? How long are wills and
probate records & military records kept on file, and are
they available to the public for historic purposes?
Are records in the Gunten/Sigriwsil area public information?
Any information will be greatly appreciated.
Nina M. von Gunten
