Mrs. Mary Bond, 77, Buried Here Sunday
Mrs. Mary E. Bond, 77, a resident of the Cross Plains area for 60 years, passed away in the Rising Star Hospital Friday, April 4, 1958 following an illness of two years.
Mrs. Bond was born Mary Elizabeth Baum, daughter of the late W. B. and Sally Baum, January 19, 1881 in Bonham, Texas. She was married to H. H. Bond Sept. 27, 1899 at Cottonwood. Mr. Bond died some 12 years ago. (1899 is the correct date, not 1898 as shown on H. H. Bond)
Funeral rites for Mrs. Bond were held at the First Methodist Church, of which Mrs. Bond was a member, at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 6, with Rev. Gordon Dennis, pastor of the church, officiating, assisted by Rev. Liman Prentice, pastor of the local Evangelical Methodist Church, and Rev. V. D. Walters, pastor of First Baptist church.
Interment was made in the Dressy Cemetery under the direction of Higinbotham Bros. Funeral Home.
Suvivors include two daughers, Miss Vesta Bond and Mrs. A. R. Cavanaugh, both of Cross Plains; three brothers, E. E. Baum of Huntsville, Ala., R. C. Baum of Idabell, Okla., and Drew Baum of Mineral Wells; two sisters, Mrs. W. T. Thorn, Paint Rock and Mrs. Roy R. Arnwine of Rusk and one grandson, Morris Ray Cavanaugh, stationed with the U. S. Army in Germany.
