Classification: Query
Surnames: DANIS, LAFRENIERE, HAMELIN,PROULX, & others
My g-grandmother was VICTORIA DANIS, b.3 Feb.1877 to Antoine-Dosithe DANIS and his wife Emma Cordelia Proulx (Antoine Emma were m.27 June 1871, in Ste.Genevieve.
VICTORIA's siblings are:
>Maximillian Danis-b.12 Nov.1873
>Stella Danis-b.13 Dec.1881
>Horace Danis-b.15 Dec.1883
I know that VICTORIA DANIS married twice. First, to a Wilfrid Langlois, on 28 Oct.1895. I don't know when/why that marriage ended.
Her second marriage was to:
JEAN-BAPTISTE LAFRENIERE on 25 Aug.1903.(Lafreniere was a pianist/conductor/published composer, who was born to:Antoine-Theophile LAFRENIERE and
Cleophe-Zoe Giroux, on 23 June 1874 in
Maskinonge,QC.) Jean-Baptiste had 7 siblings.
VICTORIA DANIS and J-B LAFRENIERE had three children:
>Jeannette-between 1903-1905
>Madeleine- b.30 May,1905, Valleyfield,QC.
>Denis-(dates unknown...died @ 18 Months.)
On 6 Jan.1912, J-B. Lafreniere died of "consumption"(TB) in Montreal. He's buried in Cote-de-Neiges Cemetery there. Later, VICTORIA DANIS died, I think, of the same affliction, although, probably not in Montreal...she's not buried next to her husband in the LAFRENIERE family plot.
Her 2 daughters were left orphaned and were eventually taken in by Dr.and Mrs.Jules Joseph Hamelin , a surgeon,
living in N.Battleford,Saskatchewan.
Did Victoria DANIS die in route to Sask.? I cannot find any record of her death, but Madeleine was certain her mother died before she was sent to the Hamelin household. Also, was Dr. Hamelin's wife, a blood relative? Maybe another DANIS?
Does anyone have any info on these folks?
Thank you for your time!
Warm Regards,
Patti Lucas
