Joshua Davis' Rowan county service

Classification: Query
Surnames: DAVIS, PEARSON, NIGHTING, RUTHERFORD, LOCKE, SHARPE, SHARP, GATES
Looking for information on the units that my great x 3 grandfather Joshua Davis served in during the Rev. War. From his pension application NC R-2741, he mentions serving as a private from Rowan County from March 5, 1780, under Capt. Richmond PEARSON, Col. LOCKE, Gen. Geffery (sic?) RUTHERFORD. He says they marched to SC and joined the troops under General GATES and were at the Battle of Camden. After serving "upwards of 6 months" he was discharged and then volunteered under Capt. Isaac NIGHTING with LOCKE and RUTHERFORD again as the Commanding officers. They were sent to put down tories in Wilmington but the tories fled before they got there. Joshua got smallpox and was discharged. But later he voluntered again, this time as a private under Capt. Joseph SHARP (or SHARPE), and they were within "hearing of guns at the Battle of King's Mountain." Joshua was 86 whern he made this claim and his discharges had burned up along with all his possessions in a fire years before. The pension was rejected due to lack of proof. From this rather meager information, I'm trying to find the regiment he served in. Does anyone have any information on the companies (or whatever) commanded by the captains listed above? I know that LOCKE and RUTHERFORD are historical figures, but would like to find the units mentioned in Joshua's pension application.
