Coulters Casey, Mercer and Washington Co., KY

Surnames: Coulter, Colter
I'm trying to sort out the Colter/Coulters in these counties as they all seem to possibly be related.
Matthew (Richard Matthew ?) Coulter, b. abt 1759
Mark Coulter, b. abt 1773 NC
Isaiah Coulter b. abt 1778 NC
Matthew Coulter served in the Rev. War from Orange Co., NC
Mark is too old to be Matthew's son, but they seem to use some of the same names --Sterling or Starling/Starlin, Spencer, Mark , Henson or Harrison are names that seem to recur.
Mark, Starling, Morris and Josiah Coulter all served in the war of 1812 from Kentucky.
Would appreciate any help sorting these Coulters and figuring out how they are related. Pat Ruiz
