SONNY HOBSON, weight 142 pounds, of Ringling and HARLEY GUINN, weight 141 pounds of Waurika, will meet in a six round bout Friday night at the Majestic Theatre.
Healdton Boys Play Bandit
Two seventeen year old boys giving their names as ROBERT MARLOW and SKEETS HICKMAN were lodged in the Johnston County jail Sunday following an attempted robbery of a filling station east of Tishomingo… DICK SMITH, operator of the filling station, said the boys appeared about 7:30 and demanded ‘all the money in the place’ at the point of a gun. Smith seeing they were only boys refused and a free for all fight followed. The boys were put to route, speeding away toward Milburn. A posse was formed at Milburn and as the boys drove into town, the car was surrounded… In attempting to escape, one of the boys tripped over his own gun and wounded his leg.

H. L. DARR, arrested in Oklahoma City last Saturday, returned to Ardmore by Deputy KEIRSEY, was positively identified by MRS. GEORGE SMITH and MRS. RALPH NICHOLSON as one of the men who held up the Wirt State Bank Sept. 11.
F. M. BAREFOOT, owner of the Barefoot Variety Store, has been making arrangements for his fall opening sale.
Oklahoma Farm News
The first bale of the 1930 cotton crop in the vicinity of Elk City was brought there Sept. 1 by SAM CRABTREE, who is holding the bale for higher prices.
Mr. and Mrs. J. D BULMAN of the Frisco community near Mill Creek, have 120 White Leghorn hens which netted them a profit of $361.85 last year. They own their own farm of 100 aces with some leased pasture land for a young herd of beef cattle. They have a good orchard and vineyard and cultivate a garden.
THOMAS SAM, full blood Choctaw, now 100 years old, has purchased his hunting license for the 16th consecutive year. Sam has been hunting fame in Garvin County for the past 40 years. He draws water daily for seven head of cattle and shocks corn daily.
The purebred Guernsey cow owned by TOM COOPER of Ardmore took first place for August in the report for Oklahoma Cow Testing Association with production of 2000 pounds of milk containing 78 pounds of 3.9% butterfat.

Boxing Bout Ends with Fist Injuries to Men
Both fighters had broken their right fists in the second round…BILLIE HARWELL of Dundee had issued a challenge to the winner of the bout for this Friday night, but ending as it did, he will match with BILLY LOGAN, of Maud, Oklahoma. Harwell is an army trained fighter and Logan is a classy man with the mittens. Fans are assured of another thriller.
County Lawyers Get Compromise
J. L. VERTREES, J. T. DANIEL, and E. B ANDERSON, Jefferson County attorneys, figured in a large damage suit last Friday in JUDGE WILLIAMS’ court in Ardmore. They represented MRS. EDITH WINNINGHAM of Terral who was suing the Magnolia Pipeline Company for the death of her husband, CECIL WINNINGHAM who was killed in the Beaver Pump Station in Cotton County while in the employment of the Magnolia Pipeline Co. The defendant company offered to compromise and settle for $8000 which was accepted by the plaintiff.
Chasing the fireman from the cab to the tender and ordering the engineer to ‘move on,’ TOM UPTON, 22, with the hallucination that he was supreme over all he surveyed, boarded the locomotive of a fast northbound Rock Island passenger train at Comanche late Monday and took charge of the engine until he was forcibly taken off by officers who were waiting on him when the train pulled into Duncan. Upton told officers he didn’t remember boarding the train and that he drank a half gallon of wine.
WALLACE ROGERS’ residence was partly burned.
Tragedy stalked in Pauls Valley Tuesday when LEE CHRISTIAN, 33 year old farmer, was murdered by M. DOWNEY and his son SAM DOWNEY, who are now in the Garvin County jail. The killing was a climax to the Downey-Christian family…

FLOYD ALFRED SMITH
Funeral service was held at 2:30 Friday afternoon at the LEE SMITH home for little FLOYD ALFRED SMITH, son of Mr. and Mrs. S. N. SMITH of the Claypool community. He was nine years, ten months, eight days old. He had been in serious condition about two weeks with typhoid. He leaves, besides his parents, three sister, and four brothers and many friends and relatives who mourn his departure.
The Home Ec. II girls gave a birthday breakfast last week for MADGE TAYLOR and OUIDA COLSON. It was a very delightful meal carried out in the colors of yellow, green and orchid. EVA ALLEN was host, NADINE WRIGHT and DUTCH NEIGLE were critics, LOYCIE ROSE was waitress, and BURNIE MORRIS and CLARA DELL PHILLIPS were cooks.

One Dead; Two Wounded in Wirt Gun Battle
DEPUTY SHEIRFF CCON KIERSEY is dead and UNDERSHERIFF VERNON CASON is in an Ardmore hospital in a critical condition as the result of a shooting affair which took place about 5:30 Wednesday evening at a private residence on the Sinclair Oil company lease about one half miles north of the Wirt Methodist Church.
Having been given a tip that a stolen car was in that section, KIERSEY and CASON went to the residence on the lease and KIERSEY went in to make inquiry as to the owner of the car parked in front of the house.
On entering the house and asking who the car belonged to, one man replied said that it was his and another placed two guns on KIERSEY with the statement, ‘I’ll just kill you,’ in a very loud and gruff voice.
Cason who had remained in the officers’ car heard the bitter words and entered the house. He entered with his gun drawn and the shooting started.
Kiersey and CASON, both shot in the face and neck. After going by way of Healdton and reporting the affair, they were taken to the hospital in Ardmore where KIERSEY died and CASON is in critical condition.
The bandits made their getaway in the Chrysler sedan belonging to the officers and came to Ringling where they halted…

A wedding of interest to Ringling folk which came as a surprise to their many friends, was that of MISS IOLA JONES to LOUIS WILLIAMSON of this city. The ceremony took place last Saturday evening at the home of W. C. HOGAN in Cornish. Mrs. Williamson is a Wilson girl and did her education in Wilson schools but she has been living in Ringling for the past two years. Mr. Williamson is a home boy, completing his high school courses at Ringling a few years ago.
Nephew of WILLIAM MANN Killed in Explosion
WILLIAM MANN and Mr. and Mrs. A. F. SCHROIDER attended the funeral service Monday for Mr. Mann’s nephew, EDWARD STEWART, who was killed instantly in a refinery explosion at Thrall, Texas Sunday. Mr. Stewart was 45 years old and is survived by his wife, two grown sons and a daughter 11 years old. Mr. Stewart was a brother of CHARLEY STEWART of Waurika and was well known in that city. The funeral was held in Wichita Falls Monday afternoon with the Presbyterian minister in charge.

Boy Killed in Auto Accident
ROBERT LEE CATES, a Tishomingo boy who was hitch hiking across the county, was a victim of an auto accident on highway 70 about ten miles west of Ringling Monday afternoon.
G. W. WOOSLEY (WOOLSEY?) who resides one mile north and five miles west of Ringling on the LUM STROUD farm, is having a farm sale at this place, Monday December 29.
L. L. PARKER who resides 4 miles south and one mile of east of Ringling on the old DICK CREEL farm is offering his entire equipment and stock for sale at public auction on Tuesday, December 30.
Sheriff-elect LINZY GOZA / GOZY was in Ringling Tuesday and made public his appointments of assistants granted him in the office of sheriff: CURT GARDNER of Ringling; Undersheriff HERMAN LONGEST of east of Oscar; GEORGE TABOR of Waurika as jailor and C. H. ATTERBERRY of east of Waurika as delinquent tax collector.
Davis to Get Speedy Trial
A speedy trial for COLQUTT DAVIS, 20, alleged slayer of CON KIERSEY, deputy sheriff, was assured Tuesday morning when District Judge ASA WALDEN, set the case for Friday, January 2.…Attorney STEPHEN A. GEORGE was appointed to served to as consul in the trial.
