Source: (microfilm) Records of Pine Lake and St. Olaf’s churches, Waukesha County, Wis., and St. John’s Lutheran Church, Stone Bank, Wisconsin, listing baptisms, confirmations, marriages, deaths, and memberships.
RLIN Number: WIHV91-A931
Permalink: http://arcat.library.wisc.edu/cgi-bin/Pwebrecon.cgi?BBID=979...
Wisconsin Historical Society

p. 108
Niels Nielson Aamodt, born 1803, from Norway, arrived February 1847, Parish: St. Olaf, moved August 1847, seceded from the church (presumably because of the move).
Wife Sara and all but last child are said to be from Norway, arriving February 1847 and of the parish of St. Olaf. Additionally, Wife Sara Nielsdatter, born 1804. Children:
Ingeborg Kirstine born Jan 27, 1826; married Jacob Isaksson
Serine born February 28, 1829
Niels born September 3, 1835
Anne Maria, born November 13, 1838
Simon, born June 15, 1842
Sara, born December 2, 1846 in St. Olaf's Parish.
On p. 69, Niels, Sara and daughter Serine are listed as communicants with the detail that they seceded September 1847.
Also, I made this note but neglected to get the page number: Sorina Nelsdtr Aamut and Simon Nelson Loberg (with slash through the o in Loberg) were married by G. Unonius Nov 13, 1854 at the house of Mr. Nils Loberg. This is followed in the film by the note "parents in Norway."
I copied the spelling of names as I found it.

Recently I viewed the microfilmed records of Pine Lake Church in Waukesha Co., WI, looking for my own Aamodts (Christopher Aamodt and wife Ingeborg Jensdatter). I'm quite sure that I saw your Sarah and Nels and copied information on them. I'll check my notes and get back to you. If you like, I can email you scans of the photocopies I made.
Kendall Mellem
k c m e l l e m @ g m a i l . c o m

I am the Cemetery Clerk for the City of Devils Lake, North Dakota. I have conflicting records for Peter L. Aamodt born to Pete and Ronaug S. Aamodt possibly on Feb 22, 1895. Does anyone have information on any of their children whom I have listed as Alida D, Louis I, Peter L and Palma E. I would appreciate birth and death records so I could either update or correct my cemetery information. Do you know when & where Pete (the father) died and is buried at? I show these children were born in Norway. Thank You!

I remember meeting Maurice and Vonda as a child.
I think Olga and Christ were his Aunt and Uncle. If you find relatives in Norway, could you please share the names.
Espen Aamodt, age, 30, son of, Harald and Liv Aamodt,
Espen Aamodt Son, Brother, and a Great Friend Espen Aamodt, 30,
a resident of Norristown, Pa., and formerly of Erie,
died on Monday morning, July 21, 2008
in Norristown.
Nina lost her big brother and Harald and Liv lost their sweet little boy who grew up in the Navy,
but never lost sight of his childhood ideals of justice and helping those weaker than himself. He was brilliant intellectually, but chose a real life education over academia---for now, he thought. He intended to go back to university, study history, political science or maybe architecture. Petty Officer First Class Espen Aamodt left the Navy in 2006 as a nuclear reactor operator and trainer on board the aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt, then worked for Arcelor Mittal Steel in Conshohocken, Pa. as an electronics technician. He was born in Columbus, Ind. on April 1, 1978,
lived with his parents in Greece, then back in Bloomington, Ind., and also Frankfurt, Germany before moving to Erie when he was 11.
He graduated from McDowell High School in 1996.
Espen was an excellent creative writer, he spoke German and Norwegian,
loved math, music, movies, and literature--C.S. Lewis was a childhood favorite--and he loved us. His vast collective knowledge allowed him to teach those around him with ease and generosity--his was a giving spirit that may have given too much to survive.
He leaves behind his parents, Harald and Liv Aamodt of Erie; his sister, Nina Aamodt, and her friend, Justin Davis, both of Santa Monica, Calif.; uncles, aunts, and cousins in Norway, England, Scotland, Cyprus, and Canada; and many, many friends.
His Navy friends, like him smart and dedicated, but also independent thinkers, have joined us in our sorrow. Friends may call at the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home, 5000 Wattsburg Rd., Erie, corner of E. Gore Rd. and Pine Ave., Saturday 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., and are invited to services there that evening (Saturday) at 7:30 p.m. officiated by Rev. Terry Wise. Private interment will take place at the family's convenience. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Big Brothers at Family Services of N.W. Pennsylvania, 5100 Peach St., Erie, 16509.

Rev. Terry Wise.
I am looking for some information on the Aamodt family. They immigrated from Norway around 1840-45. They lived in Waupaca and Dodge Counties of Wisconsin. The parents were Nels and Sarah. The 1850 census has them living in Dodge County, and the last name spelled Omott. The 1860 census has them living in Waupaca County and the last name is spelled Omet. Anything would be very helpful and thank you in advance!!

My Aamodt line begins with my maternal grandmother’s maiden name. Following her father’s line I have Haakon Ephraim Aamodt, Haakon Aamodt (emigrated from Norway to America), Christian Torkildsen Aamodt. Christian was a goldsmith who took the farm’s name of Aamodt as a family name. In my files this particular line goes back three additional generations to Ole Olsen Braatenaes, born in 1741, however if anyone out there has more info, I’d love to stretch it back further!

I to am a relative to the Aamolds, I have family in Minnesota, North Dakota, Montana, Oregon, and possible some in Canada.
I am thinking that we all may be related, The Aamold name was spelled Aamodt in Norway. I am the great granddaughter of Anton Aamold, he was a young boy, when he and his family migrated here from Norway. My Aamold family relatives have done some research that dates as far back as the early 1600's. If any of you think we may have a connection please feel free to contact me.

Kristi Bracken

I'm new to researching my family so please be patient with me. My paternal grandmother's maiden name was Aamodt. Her first name was Delores. She grew up in Minnesota. I believe she lived in or around the town of Crosby. I think her father's name was Amos. If you have any information that could be of interest to me, it would be greatly appreciated.

The 1865 Norwegian census shows a family living in Nord-Odal, Hedmark on a farm called Slaamoth. The husband's given name is Amund and his wife's father was named Hans -- therefore we'd expect them to later name a son Hans when born.
http://www.rhd.uit.no/ftsoek/ftsoek.asp?kommando=bosted&...
The 1875 census for that area is not captured in an online database yet but the parish records and the other censuses are all available on LDS microfilm/fiche sources. Here's some good advice on 'how-to' -
http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~norway/articles.html

I am searching for relatives from norway and am wondering if there is a link to the Aamodts. This family is very hard to find any infor on. My g-grandfather was Hans Slaamod from Odalen, Norway. B: 1869. He was married to Christine Egeberg, B: Oslo, 1872. I am pretty sure Slaamod was the farm name. But am lost on anything else. Hans came to America about 1888 and settled in North Dakota. Any help would be very much appreciated. My email is sunset@northerntel.net Or reply to this site if you have anything that would help. I believe Hans fathers name was Aamund Amunsen but can not be sure. Thanks in advance for any info.
Tara McAlpine
Does anyone have any information or links to an Aamodt family from Kongsberg, Norway? I am interested in any of the family (Erik and Anne, children Danile, Johan, Andreas, Karen, Petter). I have some information on Andreas because he was my great grandfather. I know that Johan came to the US in 1910, but that is where I lose him.

I am hoping that someone may be able to help me with the tracing of my ancestors.
My great-grandfather landed in Australia at the age of 18 during WW1 from Norway - he was Erling Aamodt. His parents were Haakin Aamodt and Marie (Jakopson).
He left behind 7 brothers and sisters - Tor, Borghild, Goodman, Austere, Sigrid, Bjarne and Solveig all born late 1800's.
Borghild, Austere (Astrid), Bjarne and Solveig all went to the USA during and before WW1.
Borghild married Markus Braaten - and they had ten (yes very busy people!) children (born 1909 to 1927) ---> Sylvia, Olga, Gladys, Henry, Howard, Helen, Alice, Murrel, Mary and Arnold.
Astrid married Mat Paulson and they had six children (Elsie, Esther, Lilly, Art, Eleanor and Louise).
Bjarne (Barney) name was changed to Omath, and he had 4 children (Burnell, Arnold,Sherman and Shirley).
And Solveig married Emil Nelson and they had no children.
I am looking for any further information - my grandfather gave me all this information that I have but I am interested in knowing more about the US Aamodt family and we also know nothing about the siblings that stayed in Norway.
I appreciate your help.
