My grandfather was Philip Henry Sanger, son of Amanda Jane Doane Sanger Abbe and half-brother to Jacob Charles Abbe. I noticed your note is several years old, but I was wondering how you came out in collecting the information you wanted, and getting your book written.
I've only been registered with Ancestry for a little over a year, and most of my time has been spent checking out records. I've only recently started checking out the message boards, so I just found yours and thought I'd take a chance on replying.

I have found in the 1930 Census, a family member who walked into the sunset.
BELLA BAWDEN was a 72 yo boarder in the Abbe household in the 1930 Cook County, Chicago Federal Census. There was another boarder or handyman in the household - Elmer L. Gauss Age 31.
I'd love to know if Bella died with this family. What hospital? What year? Where is she buried?

The wife of Jesse Beverly was Leina Abby/Abbey/Abbe. Jesse Beverly was born in eastern NY (probably Herkimer, Montgomery or Chenango County) or New England and is buried in the Greenville Cemetery, Howard, Steuben County, NY. Among their children are:

Armony/Armone/Armona (born bef 1820) married to Eva Winne/Winnie

Jesse (abt 1801-1872)

Roxey (1825-1906) married to Luther Spaulding

At least two more unknown daughters

Hello Jody, I can help with some members of the Abbe family. Daniel Augustus Abbe (b 11/16/1861 d 1/2/1936) married Amanda Jane Doane (b7/6/1863 d 7/29/1944) in 1884. She had one son from a previous marriage, Philip Henry Sanger(b 1878 d 1958). Philip Sanger was my grandfather. Other children of Daniel Abbe and Amanda Jane Doane are: Millie Jane b 3/5/1883 m Perry Sturgis; Jacob Charles b 8/30/1887 m Rose Pincomb; William Daniel b 3/6/1890 m Lakeatha Stout; Ezra Stanley b 2/13/1892 m Hattie Diebel; Ida Minetta b 3/16/1894 m Myron Carr; Margery Theresa b 12/25/1897(?) m Ray Gardner.This information is based on letters written by Millie Abbe Sturgis. Dear Heather,
My husband does not know the true origins of his father either....he said his name was Brady Alonzo Abbe and he left before my husband was born. My guess is that Brady Alonzo might be about 80 years old now if he is still living. My husband was born 9-9-63. This man changed identities it seems....can you describe him? B.A. Abbe was a tall dark haired man of Cherokee descent.

The excerpt you sent left out his daughter, Tabitha, b. 1694, who was my wife's several-x great-grandmother. If you are related and interested, I could send a more complete record of what I have.

William Abbe from New York to California

My great-great grandfather William Abbe evidently landed in California after a trip around the horn. He had previously come cross-country and returned from what I understand. I have a Dexter Abbe born 1817 in Ohio (?) and married Eliza A. May 5 December 1857 in Braceville, Twp., Trumbull Co., Ohio. Eliza May Abbe died 30 August 1872 and is buried in Braceville Center Cemetery, Braceville Twp., Trumbull Co., OH.

Children:
Mary S. Abbe born about 1844 in Ohio
Martha C. Abbe born about 1846 in Ohio
Cheartin Abbe born about 1853 in IL (?)
Harriet E. Abbe born 1857 in IL (?)

We have no further information on Dexter Abbe. Any information you could provide would be greatly appreciated.

Try the following book for information.
("Abbe-Abbey Genealogy - In Memory of John Abbe and His Descendents" by Cleveland Abbe and Josephine Genung Nichols, 1916" "Salem Witchcraft" by Charlse W. Upham, 1st Pub. 1867")
I have found it very informative, and it gives information on people into the 1900's.
You can get a copy of it on microfilm through The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Family History Library.

I am trying to find someone with connections to Louisa Abbe who was the second wife of my gguncle John Nicholas Richards. I don't think they had any children, but John and his first wife Mary had five children, four of whom lived to adulthood. The family lived near and in Charles City, IA. 1850 census in Tazewell County, Virginia, age 27. Married to John Henry LEWIS, two sons. Her ancestry may be part Holland-Dutch.

Hi. This may not be a match because I'm not sure about the birthdates, but my paternal grandfather, James Edward Abbe, Jr. (born 1883 in Maine) had a sister, Nellie Abbe, and another sister Ethel. We believe that Nellie was 12 years old at the time of my grandfather's birth, but you know how things go, we could have the dates wrong. Anyway, if you can provide more information about Nellie Decker, then I can see if it's the same Nellie as my grandfather's sister.

Survivors include her sons, Darrel of Valley Center, Gerald of Washington state and Thomas of Linda Vista; sister, Hulda Williams of Minnesota; brother, Peter Menten of Minnesota; 12 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Private family services were planned.

Arrangements: Clairemont Mortuary.
