I am looking for anyone who might have access to or have in their collection the Abbe-Abbey Genealogy., John Abbe descendants. By Cleveland Abbey, et al. New Haven, 1916. (511p.).

I need a favor if someone would do a lookup on page 65 for a Lucinda Abbey born 1802 in Rochester, NY to Richard Abbey Jr and Dollie Ellis. She had a brother, the Rev Richard Abbey who preached in Yazoo County, MS. Lucinda married James Van Horn in Claiborne County, MS on 3 Mar 1825, and they moved on to Leon Co, FL.

I am interested in any notes on her family and specifically any notes on Lucinda and her family with James Vanhorn.

I hope someone here can help out as this could be the break I have been looking for on my Vanhorn line.

The Aebi name, because of the Swiss/German tongue has been transliterated into at least Eby, Abby, Abbey, Alvey and other variants. I am looking for a Barbara Alvey (or spelling from above) born October 24, 1759, probably in Lancaster Co., PA or possibly Fredrick Co., MD (now Washington Co.) and died May 16, 1813. She married Christian Guth/Good abt 1777, most likely near Leitersburg, MD. Any help would be most appreciated.

Sally D. (Toy) Abbey, age 62, of Rt. 20, Westfield died Monday, March 31, 2008 at Westfield Memorial Hospital, following an extended illness.

Sally was born on March 21, 1946 in Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late John and Mary (Smith) Toy. A Westfield resident most all of her life, Sally was a 1964 graduate of Westfield Academy and Central School. She enjoyed all sorts of flowers, gardening, and bowling. She had been a dedicated homemaker.

She is survived by her husband Dale L. Abbey whom she married on September 19, 1964 in Portland, NY
and her one son: Richard “Rick” Abbey of Westfield, NY.
Sally is also survived by her sister, Mildred Herbert of Michigan, her two brothers: James Toy of North East, PA,
and Thomas Toy of Erie, PA,
as well as by her granddaughter, Brittany Lucas of Westfield, NY;
her grandson, Michael Abbey of Pennsylvania, and Brittany’s mother, Jennifer (Lucas) Stepp, also of Westfield. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Gloria Toy."

Funeral Services and burial in Union Cemetery will be held privately.

Memorials may be made to Fire Department of Westfield Memorial Fund, 23 Elm Street, Westfield, NY 14787 or to Union Cemetery, PO Box 52, Westfield, NY 14787.

Funeral arrangements are by the MASON FUNERAL HOME, 37 Clinton St., Westfield, NY 14787.

ABBEY, lumbering; born in Pennsylvania, Dec. 24, 1856; son of Edwin Abbey, who emigrated to Houston Co., Minn., about 1857; came to La Crosse about 1871, where he died, August 1878; he left a widow, who is now the wife of Mr. Benjamin Sly. R. W. married Lucy Rora; they have two children - Edwin and Emma.

Harold Aberman [Abbey], born 1896 in Odessa, Russia. Harold Aberman changed his name to Harold Abbey, which is the name he used in his career as an actor and singer. He performed in numerous play productions on Broadway in Manhattan, NYC between 1920 and the 1940’s. He starred in Lassie [musical comedy] at the Nora Bayes Theatre on 44th street, then in the Casino Theatre on Broadway, in 1920; June Love [musical comedy] at the Knickerbocker Theatre on Broadway, in 1921; The Hotel Mouse [musical comedy] at the Shubert Theater on 44th Street in 1922; Bitter Sweet [operetta] at the 44th Street Theatre in 1934; and Strip for Action [original play] at the National Theatre on Broadway [later known as the Billy Rose Theater], in 1942 – 1943. Mr. Abbey was born in New York, and had been an Akron resident for the past 47 years. He had owned and operated Abbey’s Mens Wear Stores until retiring 7 years ago.
Mr. Abbey was the beloved husband of LeNore; devoted father of Alan and Mrs. Joan Koplin, both of Sarasota, Fla.; dear brother of Mrs. Florence Eisenbach, of Sarasota, Fla. And Edward Abbey, of Vineland, N.J.; grandfather of four.
Services will be held at the Gordon Memorial Home Thursday, 1 p.m., Rabbi Morton Appelbaum officiating. Interment Rose Hill Burial Park. Family will observe memorial week at the residence. (Gordon).

Linda Kay Abbey, 53, a retired Lake Weir High School teacher, died Wednesday, Dec 14, 2005, at Legacy Hospice House.
A native of Youngstown, OH, she moved here from Fort Lauderdale, in 1980. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church and Bell Choir and St John Athletic Booster Club.
Survivors include her husband, William C Abbey, Ocala; daughter, Kristen K abbey, Ocala; son Brad W Abbey, Ocala; stepson, Marc Abbey, Houston, TX; sister, Katherine Arenal, Punta Gorda; and brother, Charles Bird, Fort Myers.

Does anyone have information about Jacob Abbey who lived in Allegheny, Allegheny County, PA. He was born in 1838 in PA and died in 1884. Both his parents were born in Switzerland. His wife's name was Mary. Their children were Anna (Maggie), Jacob W, John, Hettie, Oliver and Frank. In 1880 he owned a trunk business in the area, probably called Abbey Trunks. I am the granddaughter of Jacob W and would appreciate any information.

Utica, N. Y., Feb. 17 (U.P.) – Gunfire intended for a cat killed John Abbey, 61, of Madison, late yesterday.
Abbey’s step-son, Stanley Henry told authorities he thought there were too many cats on the Abbey farm. He fired a rifle at one of the cats as Abbey stepped from behind a corn crib. The bullet lodged near Abbey’s heart.
Abbey cried out but did not fall. He walked to the house where he collapsed. A half hour later he died.

I understand that Luke Abbey (born in England in 1787, lived in NJ and IL) is included. I wonder if he has a sister Ann who married Samuel Ogden in NJ in 1803. I'd appreciate any info.

Schuyler Abbey is NOT from Ireland, I mis-read the writing on the Census form. He was born in Canada c.1858 (probably around Ontario) to a Marshal Abbey. I have Marshal born in Ontario c.1828 to Richard Abbey and Jan (Gilchrist); with Richard Abbey born in Ontario c. 1806. Schuyler came to the US in the Minnesota area and married a Dora E. I read the messages and cannot find a connection yet, but I'm looking for information for a Schuyler Abbey who was supposedly born in Ireland in Sept. 1858, but emigrated to the United States (as a child I suppose, but not sure). However, he was already in Michigan in 1884, and was married to a Dora E. (nee Cripps). Any information would be greatly appreciated. Schuyler doesn't seem to be a popular name, but I cannot find any thing else.

My father -- Joseph Gould -- was a US intelligence agent who sought out Morris Abbey's assistance in meeting representatives of the German exile community in London for secret US spy missions into Nazi Germany. Morris Abbey introduced my father to a man named Juergen Kuczynski who was a German communist exile and leader of the Free Germany Committee in London. Morris Abbey and his wife gave birth to a Peter David Abbey and I have a baby picture of Peter David Abbey in my New York City office files. Seeking information on ARTHUR W. ABBEY, SR. born Aug. 29, 1883 in Missouri; died July 1972 in Scottsdale, AZ. ARTHUR lived in Waterloo, Iowa from about 1921 to about 1942. Spouse of ARTHUR: EMMA (last name unknown). EMMA was born Nov. 5, 1888 and died March, 1976 in Scottsdale, AZ.

Child of ARTHUR SR. and EMMA: ARTHUR W. ABBEY, JR.; born June 22, 1918; died August 9, 1990 in Phoenix, AZ. ARTHUR JR. served in the Navy and is buried in the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona.

ARTHUR SR. also served in the Navy. I find him in Massachusetts on the 1920 census and believe that ARTHUR JR. was born in Massachusetts.

Gertie was b. abt 1870 in Perrysburg, Cattaraugus County, NY to Andrew and Esther Hugoboon Perkins. She and George were married before 1890 in Chautauqua Co, NY by Rev. Alfred J. Wilcox, and they had at least 3 children: Clayton J., Wellington, and Carrie, who married Abner Harper. In 1919, they were living in Portland, Chautauqua Co, NY, and Gertie, Clayton, and Carrie are buried at the Evergreen Cemetery at Portland.

Gertie was a younger sister of my great grandfather Addison Perkins, and I would really like to connect with any of her descendants.

Buffalo (UP) - Only three violent deaths were reported in the western New York area over the weekend as curtailment of driving due to gas rationing resulted in but two traffic fatalities.
Edward V. Guinnane, 42, Jamestown, was killed when struck by an automobile while walking along a highway near Dunkirk.
Carey O. Abbey, 75, of Suburban Jamestown, was fatally injured in a similar mishap near his home.
Joseph Jordan, 36, of North Tonawanda, was drowned in Niagara river.

They were both from Cooke, County, Illinois. Milton was an aide to General Ulysses S. Grant. Mary may have been married to Milton's relative, Eldorado and they had 3 children, Emogene, Russell and Eldorado, Jr., the first two dying as infants.
