James F and Mary Johnson Abbott are cousins to me. James F's father was James S Abbott - and his brother Micah Abbott was my 2G grandfather. Micah's son William moved to Wisconsin in 1850. James F's son Freeman Farewell also came to Wisconsin, then later settled in Iowa.

I haven't followed a lot of the descendants of this particular branch, jporter17 will do better at that, but maybe I can help you with ancestors of them.

This particular Abbott line goes back to George Abbott, b abt 1615 in Bishops Stortford England, came to the US 1642, was one of the first settlers and founders of Andover, MA, and died there 1647. He was married to Hannah Chandler, who later married Rev Francis Dane - famous during the witchcraft trials for being the main opposition to Cotton Mather. All kinds of good stories in this Abbott family!
