Hi tfarris,
I read your message and am wondering if there is a connection with our families...my father's dad, my grandfather, is from Zahle, Lebanon, his name was Salem (Salim) David (Davud) Abdo. His nickname was Sam. He was a shoemaker and later in life worked at Marshall Fields in Chicago making custom shoes. From what little I know about him, he lived in or around Fargo, North Dakota; Minnesota and then finally Chicago, Ill. He married my grandmother, Luiza, but I don't know a date or where this took place. They had four sons, my dad, Roger, Naiff, Edward and Donald who all grew up in Chicago. They had several aunts and uncles, but my dad unfortunately can't remember their names, except Uncle Brahim? or Abraham who was married to someone named Edna Engstrom? I did see on Manifesto that Sam stayed with his mother's brother, I think, Uncle Brahim Morad Daher, who married Salma Daher, looks like they lived in Indiana had a daughter Saidi Daher. If any of this sounds familiar let me know. I am trying to piece together my father's family history and unfortunately, his memory is fading. Any other information would be appreciated.
Thank you.
