Surnames: Abell Smith
Abell researchers, I am still looking for help in identifying the parentage of my Abell ancestors. They do not seem to be in the published Norwich CT records.
Zebediah Abell, born Norwich c. 1793 (per his 1812 Pension Application) died c. 1977 Port Ewen, NY resided Middletown and Delhi, Delaware County, NY married to Judith Beadle and had sons, Abram and Edward plus one daughter
Eliza Abell, born Norwich CT. c. 1795 (per her application for an 1812 pension from her husband Samuel Todd's service) married c1817 at the home of her parents, Matthias Redmond(stepfather) and Sally Smith Redmond in Delaware Co,. NY.. She died 1880 or after in Delaware County NY. Her sons were James, Dudley, and Reuben. Her daughters were Mary, Martha, Alida, Sileneer, and Elsa
Their mother Sally Smith still living in 1850 census which indicates she was born in CT c1773. She married an Abell prior to 1793 and was either widowed or divorced by 1798 while still in Norwich, where she marries Matthias Redmond. They are listed in the 1800 census for Norwich with 3 or 4 children . Her Redmond children include John, David, Garret (Gerard), Samuel, George, and Elizabeth.
Sally Smith and her first husband, Mr. ? Abell obviously belong to the local Smith and Abell families of the Norwich area. Can anyone help place them?
