Horace's older brother Silas (1836) would be my great great great grandpa. He lived to be about 99 years old. So you and I have the same greatx4 grandpa! If I'm thinking correctly, that is. I can imagine that sifting through records in Europe would be interesting, I think the one line from Holland gets as far as 1573 and there's a Benton line that I've gotten as far back as 1490 in England- only because, again, someone did the research and graciously put it online. That should also be a line of yours too, if you sift through Charles Abers' wife's lineage. My current thinking is, if I can get them on the boat that brought them over, I'm pretty happy and content. And my relations have been in North America much longer than I dreamed. Happy hunting. And you're right, we may have to look to alternative spellings for Abers. That's a huge possibility. I can send pictures of the headstones too, if you want.
