FOUND THE S ABINGTON SISTERS ON MEMPHIS CENSUS WITH ADOPTED PARENTS

Found the 2 Abington Sisters on this census with their adopted parents FRANK and ANNIS WILKINS.
Now I wonder if this ANNIS is a relative of my ANNIS WOODALL/WHITE/ABINGTON died in Oct 1925, the sisters biological mother.
Any help Out there?

Ifound the 2 sisters of my father in Census of Shelby County, Tenn. The family was Frank Wilkins and Annis Wilkins. That name Annis really stood out as my grandmother was Annis Woodall who married Jim Abington in Memphis before she died in October of 1925. She must have marr Jim about 1922. Now I wonder, was this Annis who adopted the girls kin to my grandmother Annis? he

I am looking for the parents of Hardeman A. Abington, (b: abt 1835, NC).
He married first Elizabeth Ann HARRIS (b: 2 Jan 1837/Memphis, Shelby Co, TN) on 14 Sep 1854 at Marshall Co, MS. Census records indicate they resided in Shelby Co, TN - 1860, Cypress Ridge, Monroe Co, AR - 1870, Cypress Twp, Phillips Co, AR - 1880. They had at least 2 daughter, Frances B (b: abt 1856, MS) and Caledonia "Callie" (b: abt 1860, TN)
He married second Martha A (unknown last name) (b: abt 1867, AR) about 1900. Census record for 1910 has them residing in Cleveland Twp, Phillips Co, AR in 1910.
Any information would be appreciated.

I can give you some information on the girls' father and his family:
James Gwynne Abington, b. 1902 son of
John Benjamin Abington, Sr. (1873-1930's?) and
Jeannette Elizabeth Gwynne (1884-1914)
I can also go back a few more generations.

Still seeking connection /contact with descendants/family of 2 Sisters born in 1923 & 1924 to Annis Catherine (nee Woodall) Abington. Girls were said adopted from French cam presbyterien Home in French Camp, Miss.
They were thought to have been adopted by a Wilerson/Wilkinson family. That would be after their biological mothers death in Oct 1925.
I have 2 photos of the girls as babies.
My father was their half-brother. He was 5/6 when his mother died.

I am researching my mother-in-law's Gwynne/Abington family:
When I first saw your post, it jumped right out at me because C(K)atherine Abington was my mother-in-law's mother's name and Jeannette was HER mother's name. But, when I saw the dates, they were too late (our Katherine was born in 1903, however, she was also orphaned at an early age when her mother, Jeannette) died. But now, after reading further posts from you and Shari, they might fit together after all.
John B. ABINGTON married Jeannette E. GWYNNE about 1899 in Memphis or Collierville, TN. They had the following 3 children:
James G. b. ca 1901
John B. jr b. ca 1902
Katherine W. b. ca 1903
They divorced and both were married at least two more times. The boys stayed with their dad while Katherine went with her mother. If this James G. Abington is the one who married your grandmother, it is makes sense that he could have named his daughters after his deceased mother and only sister (who went to California after spending a year in an orphanage herself).

I am researching my mother-in-law's Gwynne/Abington family:
John B. ABINGTON married Jeannette E. GWYNNE about 1899 in Memphis or Collierville, TN. They had the following 3 children:
James G. b. ca 1901
John B. jr b. ca 1902
Katherine W. b. ca 1903
They divorced and both were married at least two more times. The boys stayed with their dad. In the 1930 census, oldest son, James G. (could very likely stand for GWYNNE) is at a prison work farm across the border in Arkansas, listed as divorced. That is the last info I have on him.

Correction on the birthdate of Frances or Fannie B. Abington: should read 1854, not 1845.

Lawrence Abington and Lydia Brookes 1670 Virginia

Does anyone have information and birthdates of these two people's ancestors or children? Lawrence's will was proved in 1670. My info is that their daughter Elizabeth married Mark Cullom and had a daughter Elizabeth who married Isaac Wickliffe. Elizabeth died in 1727. Thanks

Abington/Moore Family of North Carolina, Kentucky and Arkansas

Looking for the family of Mary C. ABINGTON who married William L. MOORE, December 9, 1846 in Fayette County, Tennessee. Mary C. Abington was born December 21, 1831 in Kentucky and her father was William Abington, mother is unknown. She died July 21, 1911 in Hickory Plains, Prairie County, Arkansas. William Abington was born in North Carolina per a biography of William L. Moore in "Biographical & Historical Memoirs of Eastern Arkansas", page 718 by Goodspeed Publishers, 1891.

William and Mary Abington Moore moved to Prairie County, Arkansas sometime between 1850 and 1860. There is a J.B. ABINGTON, possibly a relation, that is also living in Prairie County, Arkansas. I have no further information about him. Other Abington's living in Phillips County, Arkansas, are the following:

H.A. ABINGTON. Born about 1835 (Source: 1880 Cypress, Phillips County, Arkansas, Federal Census) in North Carolina. Both parents were born in North Carolina. Possibly a brother to Mary C. Abington. His wife is listed as "E.A." Abington, born about 1837 in Mississippi. Her parents were both born in North Carolina. They had the following children:

1. Frances or Fannie B. Abington b. About 1845

2. Callie Abington b. About 1861

3. Jennie Abington b. About 1862

There is also a W.T.ABINGTON living in White County, Arkansas. Born about 1845 in Tennessee.

This is all I have on these Abington's. If anyone can give me information on the parentage or ancestors of Mary C. Abington Moore I would be very appreciative.

I have just started looking for information on my grandfather. Did anyone know James Gwin Abington. Albert L. Abington was his half brother. Albert lived in Cordova (Shelby County) TN. To my understanding James Gwin Abington was married at least twice (Maybe more?). Heard thru the grape vine that he had 2 daughters. He lived in Hattiesburg Mississippi back in 1937 when my father was born. Last we heard he was buried in sweetwater TX. any way if any one knows any thing I would like to heard from you.

My great grandfather was Louis Hardiman Abington, born in Shelby County, TN in 1855. He was town marshall of Collierville, Shelby County, TN in late 1870's for four years.

I can't find anything on his ancestors or siblings. Does this make any connection to A.T.Abington?

I am going to visit the abington cemetery in shelby county Tn. this spring and have been told there is different names with it. I take it that a group of people went together and made their own in the very early 1800. also have some copies of when some slaves were bought and the names and a round seal of some kind. would like to share information.

Sherry, Shelby County is where my paternal grandmother, Annis catherine Woodall White Abington lived. She died there in Oct of 1925.
My dad was from her first marriage & born in 1920 in Memphis,TN.
She divorced Wm Henry White and later married I do think a Jim Abington but I am not positive on the first name.
I think I remember my Mom saying he was a car salesman/lot owner etc?
The girls were born in 1923 and 1924. I have their photos with birthdates written on back.
I remember Mom saying he lived in Miss . Perhaps he had family there also?
The girls would have had Austin cousins . Annis was from the Coffeeville are in Yalobusha County.

Thanks for the info but the 2 sisters I'm looking for
were birth Abington and were adopted by Wilkerson or Wilkinson family
in French Camp, Mississippi.
I was told that one of the siters became a Prebyterian Missionary.
If still living they would be in their 80's. They are my Dad's half-sisters whom I never knew.
I would love to find them and make contact.

Seeking info on 2 daughters of Annis Catherine Woodall-White-Abington of Mississippi. The girls were born in about 1923-24...born abt a year apart. After the death of their mother Annis, they were placed in the Presbyterian Childrens Home in French Camp, Miss. They are said to have been adopted by a Wilkenson or Wilkerson family.
They are my aunts. Their older brother was Jesse Randolph White .

I'm trying to locate information on one of my
ancestors:

IRENE HENDERSON was born 9 August 1870
in Panola, Mississippi. Her parents
were John Henderson and Irene (Shelton)
Henderson of Tennessee and Kentucky,
respectively. She married A.T.Abington.
Irene died at the age of 75 on 14 Sept. 1945.
I don't know when her husband died,
but it was after her, since he signed her
death certificate. I don't know if they
had children.

i have an uncle- roger abington. you have also mentioned two sisters who married two abington brothers- my uncles.
i am curious how you know my family. were you friends with them, neighbers?

the two sisters you are speaking of i believe are my aunts, married to my uncles stan and don abington. i know my uncle don is deceased but i think stan is still alive.
do you know where he is? last i knew stan and jean had moved to wyoming.
i am jan abington daughter of walker abington, my uncle stan's oldest brother.
i have been trying to trace our side of the family but can't get back past my grandfathers father. if you know of my uncles whereabouts, i'd love to know.

Irene Henderson, daughter of William Lafayette Henderson (son of John Henderson and Irene Shelton) and Margaret Steele (daughter of John and Margaret Steele), was born 9 August 1870, Shelby Co., TN; Married A.T. Abington; She died as a result of carcinoma of the cervix on 14 September 1945 at the age of 75. At the time of her death, she was living at 1436 E. Molemore, Memphis, Shelby Co., TN. She is buried in Elmwood Cemetary, Memphis, TN.

Mrs. A.T. Abington
Active Church Worker Will Be Buried This Afternoon at Elmwood
Services for Mrs. Irene Henderson Abington, wife of A.T. Abington, will be held at 2:30 this afternoon at National Funeral Home, the Rev. Charles Stuart Hale officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood. She was 75.
Mrs. Abington died early yesterday at Baptist Hospital. She was a daughter of the late Dr. and Mrs. W.L. Henderson of Woodstock. Her father was a physician in the Confederate Army and her mother was a nurse. Mrs. Abington was a member of the D.A.R. and Daughters of the Confederacy.
Before she became ill a year ago she was active in all phases of work at Grace St. Luke's Episcopal Church, where she taught a Sunday School class.
Educated at St. Mary's Episcopal School here and Peabody College in Nashville. Mrs. Abington spent much of her time visiting the sick and doing deeds of charity.
