Hi, I am Melba Ables Halbrook and have just found Joseph Able and James Able in 1790 Abbeville South Carolina. I also found William Able who appears to be the son of Joseph because William is listed directly under Joseph in the 1800 Abbeville, SC Census. Joseph and William went to Lincoln County, TN and appear there in the 1820 Census. From there they went to Fayette County, Alabama and appear in the 1830 Census of that county and state. My ancestor Joseph Ables came to Leake County, MS in 1840; then to Attala County in 1850; then to Holmes County in 1860. My Joseph Ables was born 1801/2 in South Carolina or TN--probably SC.
