Yes, I also believe that we are distant cousins. As for the Chocktaw/native American connection.... many of Icy's decendants, and their spouses, feel that she may have had many Native American traits (coloring, high cheekbones, etc.). Icy claimed her father was 1/2 Chocktaw and married white, making her 1/4 Chocktaw. The outcome of the petitio to the Dawes Commission was ultimately to deny her claim as a member of the Chocktaw Nation as well as her children.(her father had not registered as Native American; but, at that period of time Native Americans were not favorably looke upon. If they were "light enough, they passed for white, if they had darker skin, they were often enummerated in the census as Mulatto!)
