John Abner was my grandfather, he was born in 1889, his father might be the one you are searching for. I know nothing futher back than my grandfather. My father was Glen Abner he passed in 1996. Most all of my relatives live in Kentucky around the Glasgow area. I have been out of contact with everyone of them since I grew up and my father moved us to Indianna in the early 60s. I do know I have cousins who are, William, Roger, and some of the Abners married into the Wesley Pickett family and Albright family.

My grandmother Beatrice Walsh Meehan came to America from Ireland to live with her Uncle Peter A Drury. He was partner with Abner. He also served on the board of directors of a bank in DC and lived on Pennsylvania Ave. I would like it if you contacted me. Are you saying he was your grandfather?

Richard was my great grandfather on my Pop's side. Dora was his wife. I'm trying to find the iformation on the Griggs side of my family and it's been rough finding info for Richard- much less being able to go beyond Richard.

My name is Pat Abner. Frank Abner who was married to my grandmother, Prescilla (Chapman) was from Evergreen and Montgomery, Alabama. He had a son also name Frank and another, my father, Eugene. They were all originally from Alabama. Hope this helps

Her name could be Abney.I'm under the impression Abney/Abner are the same. It somehow got changed by some of the Abney families. My gr. grandmother was an Abney,but my grandfather always thought it was Abner. I also thought they were from Englan. I don't think I can help you. Mine started off in Virginia then worked their way to Kentucky. My family ended up in Missouri.Knowing her parents names is a big help. Try searching them also.Sometimes you get info that way.....Sharon

My Great-Grandmother has proved to be unbelievably elusive. If someone wants to try to help me with her, I'll throw out what I have. I believe she was from "Austria" as well.

I believe her name was Marie or Mary Abner

I think she was born in 1895 or 96 in "Austria" - she had a thick accent

Parents names were John Abner and Elizabeth Greschold (According to her death certificate).

Married Martin Zalokar in Virden, Illinois in 1918. This may have been her second marriage.

Listed on 1920 Census with Martin and daughter Frances born in 1919.

Married Claude Bishop in 1925 in Waukegan, Illinois.

Listed on 1930 census in Milwaukee with Claude and daughter Frances and son Claude Jr. (1927)

Had sons Patrick (1931) and Duane (1933) in Rhinelander, Wisconsin

Divorced Claude Bishop in Milwaukee and married Ignatz Multisch in 1947 in Milwaukee.

Died in Rhinelander, Wisconsin in 1965.

This is all I know about her. She is a dead end, and it is driving me INSANE! lol

Looking for info on George Abney;born supposedly Missouri in1844. Married to Mary Bentley? born in Missouri in 1844. Iknow he was related to Abraham Abney and his children.He lived in Kentucky close to James Calvin Abney. Later that same James and some of his family showed up together in Harmony Washington County Missouri.James Calvin Abney Jr. lived close to my Great Grandmother Dora Abney Griggs.Alot of people in my family think George W. is our great great Grandfather but after researching records I think not. I am researching the Sutherland Line (my mother's line). I am trying to locate Elizabeth Abner/Abney who married William Sutherland 1850 in Jefferson Co IN (Madison IN) Elizabeth was born abt 1834. Father of William is Enos and Sarah Sutherland. Enos and Sarah are first cousins. William and Elizabeth was found in the 1850 census of Owen Co KY, they moved from there to Lockport KY (Henry Co). They also lived in Franklinton KY Henry Co. Their children: Mary Frances, married Butler Bishop, James W, Mildred,married James Cullins Sr. Harriett Ethel, Warren married Margaret Lucinda Goodrum 1894, Preston, married Bell Irving, John. William died around 1875, Elizabeth, also known as Belle, in the 1880 census was found in Franklinton Henry Co Census as Widowed. I do not know when Elizabeth died or where either she or William are buried. I know that my grandmother Bertie Sutherland Prather refered to the IOOF Cemetery in Campbellsburg Ky Henry Co as the family cemetery. I have 17 direct relatives buried there. A lot of Sutherland's and related families bureid there. Any information is much appreciated. Will share info with anyone who is interested in the Sutherland Family.

Ollie Abner Lyttle

Mrs. Ollie Abner Lyttle, 82, formerly of Heidrick, was born in Clay County, Ky. on January 10, 1924 to the late Sam Abner and Tennie Cottingim Abner, and departed this life on Thursday, August 24, 2006 in the Heritage House in Corbin, Ky. Ollie worked 26 years at Warner’s before retiring. On January 11, 1964, she united in marriage with Rev. Bill Lyttle.
In addition to her parents, her husband: Rev. Bill Lyttle; a stepson: Roger Dale Lyttle; a grandson: Michael Rains; her sisters: Dorothy Lawson, Elsie Abner and Ann Abner; three brothers-in-law: Earl Smith, Arthur Lawson and Lester Abner, preceded her in death.
Mrs. Lyttle is survived by her loving daughters: Brenda Vaughn and husband John, of Taylors, S.C., Dora Sherry and husband Paul of Piqua, Ohio, and Phyllis Goodin and husband Danny of Laura, Ill.; a brother: Homer Abner and wife Estelene of Heidrick, Ky. and Jean Smith of London, Ky. Her 12 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, loving caregiver Tavia Whitehead and husband Ralph and many other dear relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Ollie Abner Lyttle were conducted in the Hopper Funeral Home Chapel on Sunday, August 27, 2006 at 2 p.m. with Dr. John C. Vaughn and Rev. Mike Asher officiating. Burial followed in the Fisher Cemetery with Mike Doolin, Keith Abner, donny Lawson, Kenny Abner, Joe Vaughn and Daniel Vaughn serving as pallbearers.
Honorary pallbearers were Frankie Doolin, Sammie Lawson and Paul Sherry.
Hopper Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Thomas Drury married to Mary Cassidy

I am searching for a connection to my gr-gr grandfather Thomas Drury, who was born in County Sligo between 1822-1828, he left (according to family lore) Ireland to search for work in the mines of Scotland in 1849. He met and married Mary Cassidy (also originally from Ireland) in 1851 in Coatbridge Scotland. They had ten children: Patrick (married O'Gara), Ann (m. Darragh), James (m. Shannon), Mary (m. Christy), Thomas (m. Mulligan), Bridget (m. Sullivan), Michael (bachelor), John (m. Owens then m. Waters), Ellen (m. unknown), and Catherine (spinster). The family left Scotland in 1871 and travelled through MA, then ended up in Braidwood, Illinois coalmines. If any of this is familiar to anyone I would appreciate information. In turn I have information as well.

Not sure if we are the same Abner. The Abner I am connected to is Gottlieb Abner. The orignal spelling of Abner was Aebner. I know he is buried in the Bartlett cemetery, Edwardsville, Illinois. Grave unmarked, I am working on location with cemetery keeper. I think his sister was Anna Marie Kuhn nee Abner. She is buried there in cemeter and grave is marked. Found her parents as Anna M. Meyer and George M. Abner. Gottlieb was married to Minnie Tuteken. Gottlieb was killed by a train in 1908. They had one child named Amelia Aebner. Gottlieb and Minnie lived outside of Edwardsville, Illinois near a small town called Fruit.
Do we have a connection?

John Abner married Nancy chescney McJunkins in 1818. I also found that a John Abner married her sister Katherine. or Is this a different John Abner, if so Are they related. I know that there is two John Abner's in Clay Co, Kentucky.
Katherine was born 1820 in Owsley Co, Kentucky. Nancy was born 1825 in Kentucky.
I Know the family of McJunkins traveled from Greenville, SC to Owsley, Kentucky then they went to Clay , Kentucky because of Conflick in Owsley.
I know at some point John Abner went back to Owsley, Kentucly.
in Jonesville, Kentucky there is a old graveyard called Abner Graveyard. Its located in a field and is almost impossible to get to. Some of the Phillips and McJunkins are buried there. I believe that John is buried in Owsley, Kentucky.

I have some info about elisha, but I'm not too good at sending info. It is very long, but maybe this will help. I am connected to the John Abner/Millie Noble line. It is so confusing because there are so many Johns, Mary Polly(my great grandmother) and Elishas.

My mother-in law is harold abner Jr's daughter.
I am currently looking up information on that side of the family.
i know that Ruth's maiden name is Zart, and her middle name is louise
And i have been told that harold (sr)'s mother died in child birth and he was sent to an orpahange some where in the middle of indiana
he's in the 1930 census for laporte
his brith day is 19 aug 1906 (acc'd to ss deathindex)
harold jr was born in 33
and did have a sister louise born in 31/32 who died young, but couldnt have kids?

Thank you so much for getting back to me so quickly. Since we seem to both have Mary and Joseph's in the family, I can only wonder if there is a link here.

Again, my grandmother was Emma Anna Tremer. Her mothers name was Emma, according to my oldest sister. We assume her family came over from Germany into Ellis but I am still trying to verify that. My grandmother married Thomas Jefferson Gaddy and lived in West Point, VA and ran the York Theatre. They had my mother Charlotte Moehringer Gaddy and Mary Lee Gaddy. I am also trying to find any information on the surname Moehringer for we are under the impression that was my grandmothers mothers maiden name - but on this we could be wrong. I did try to contact the author by the same last name, but of course he didn't respond. Most likely thought I was just another nut. Oh well, at least I tried.

Thank your father-in-law for me for his information. And let me know if you come across any other information.

I don't have alot of information other than what I posted. My grandmother and her family came over from Germany through Ellis Island and settled in Richmond, VA. My grandmother was one of 9 or 10 children. Some of her siblings names were: Chris, Joe, Alma, Mary, Eleanor.

I would appreciate any information on your wife's grandmothers family. What was her grandmothers name? What is your wife's name? Who did her grandmother marry? Where did they live etc.. I do know that there aren't hardly any Tremer's left so I am assuming we must be related somewhere down the line. Thanks for repling!

My name is Grace Prater, I am an Abney/Abner descendant and I am working on an Abney/Abner family genealogy book. I have traced them all over the US all the way back to England and Norway. Several other researchers have helped me in this and their names will be included in the front of the book as well. He was born in Kentucky - I got that from census records with the family I do know. However, I don't know what county he was born in. I know he married Dollie Powell and they had 3 children, Della Mae, Bradley and Lee Arnold. He was killed in a car accident sometime between Dec 1938 and Dec 1939. Does this fit with the James you mentioned?

William Albert Abner was my great grandfather. He was born 23 Dec 1961 in Ky. Died 20 Dec 1933 in Barren County Ky. He is Buried in Deweese Cemetery, Barren County Ky. He married Tabetha Clementine McClennen around 1883. They had 8 Children. One of who was my Grandfather Virgil Abner. Any info on WIlliam or Tabetha . Will be glad to share photo's and info..

This is what I got from my father-in-law the other day. His mother, Agnes Tremer was born in 1908. She was the youngest of 5 children born to Andrew and Elizabeth Tremer in New York City. Her siblings were Mary, Joseph, Henry and Lawrence. He said that one of Agnes' parents came from Alsace-Lorraine, Germany. She married Raymond Scanlon, moved to New Jersey in the 1950's and then retired to Florida. That's all I have for now. Hope this helps.

Hi Jerry and other cousins, I am just starting work on this line, my grandfather was roosevelt, the youngest of the 15 surviving children of William Mayron. I am looking for source documents on Levi Abner and any information about his parents. Also mother Mary Hull, what was her mother Martha's maiden name? I also have a family tree someone gave my mother at the family reunion, but I'm looking for source documents! Would appreciate you sharing any information you've uncovered.
