I have some research done in Sweden on a person I am not related to but was curious about, he accompanied my husbands grandfather on the voyage to America...I think he was the reason the grandfather went to Chicago.
K.G. Ambrahamsson was b. 29 Aug. 1855 and baptised 30 Aug. 1855, Carl Gustaf b. in the town of Mariestad Sweden. his father is Jonas Abrahamsson and mother is Maria Carlsdotter..his father was a Prison Wachter or Prison guard probably.
Jonas Abrahamsson was b. 22 Dec. 1825 and mother Maria Carldotter b. 29 Aug. 1820
This is what I received from the Swenson researchers.
Peter Engberg immigrated to America in 1886 age 23 from Goteborg, Sweden. desination, Chicago. Was accompanied by a man, age 30, K.G. Abrahamson who was from Skovde, his desination was also Chicago, IL. They left the port of Goteborg on April 2, 1886 on the ship Orlando for the port of Hull, England.
The usual rout was then to go by train to Liverpool and then take a steamship across the Atlantic.
