I am a relative, too and they were from Rumania. My grandmother was Mollie Bram and my grandfather was Benjamin (Benny)Bram. My father was George Bram (Mollie and Benny's first born son). They had a daughter before him but she was a breach birth and the doctor dropped her and she strangled to death. Grandpa Benny chased him down the street with a butcher's knife but didn't catch him. The second born son was Bernard (Bernie) and Seymour who is the youngest is still living. He born when Benny was 65 years old and Mollie was in her late 40's. She went for 8 months thinking that she had a tumor until my father dragged her to the doctor who informed her that in one month she was delivering her "tumor"! Grandma Mollie was Grandpa Benny's niece! My name is Barbara Bram Davis.
Anyone who thinks they are related to me can email be at barbara_r_davis@yahoo.com

Looking for more information on Ernest Abramowitz. Seems to have immigrated to US from Riga, Russia (also considered Latvia) in 1903/1904. Was born in 1899. I believe he married a Clara Siman sometime in the 1920s. We found his naturalization papers showing his two children Muriel and Alvin. We can't find any info on Clara Siman or his father. Any information would be greatly appreciated!!

Finding Abramowitz Relatives

My mother was a born "Abrams" - name changed by her father "Israel Abramowitz" - from Lithuania, who came to Cape Town round 1910 as a teenager. Below is all the info I have. I live in the UK and would be intrigued to here from any members of this side of the family. My e-mail is paul@herz.omnia.co.uk (Paul Herzberg)

Lily (my mom's) father's brother, i.e. Israel's brother, was Nathan Abramowitz.

Israel's sister (name ?) Abramowitz emigrated to Scotland round turn of last century.

Gita Lipschitz (Yetta / Anyetta's sister) married Benjamin Lipschitz, they had a son called Joe, who married Esther Segal, who lived in Volksrust.

Lena Lipschitz (older than Yetta) lived in Benoni, had a daughter called Jenny, who married Joe Traub, who had two children. Incidentally, a few years ago, I met a chap called Martin Traub, who appeared to be related to us, and who was the first white athlete to go under 10 seconds for the 100 metres in South Africa.

Taube Lipschitz (Yetta's youngest sister) married another Lipschitz!. They had two kids. Taube's daughter was called Lena.

Abe Lipschitz, son of Yetta's brothers. lived in Benoni. had a sister (Rose?), also married.

Yetta had two cousins: 1) Taube - married a man called Reichman (note here which says " Shipping Line.") Had son came to England married into Jewish aristocracy.

Abramowitz

My wife's great grandmother was a "Clara Abramowitz" who was born 22 June 1889 either Beelitz Germany or Bielitz (=Bielsko), Poland.

She married a Dr. James Lewin in about 1916-1917 and they lived in Berlin on Aschaffenburgerstr. 16. Following a divorce (about 1925) she married a Walter Loewenheim in about 1929. She came to New York after the war and probably changed her name to "Clara Lewis".

I am especially interested in tracking down Clara's bother, who was referred to by the family as "Uncle Zep". He was a physician who also came to New York either just before or just after WW2. I believe he may be the Dr. Joseph Abramowitz (physician) listed in the Berlin Address Book from 1927-1933.

Clara also appears to have had an "Alfred Abramowitz" (brother or nephew) living at the same address from 1928-1933.

"Uncle Zep" apparently had at least one daughter.

Graeme.
