Sidney Abrams, female, age 20-30, is shown on the 1840 census of Craven County, North Carolina with one son, under 5, and no husband. In the 1830 census there is no Abrams in Craven County but there is a Richard Abrams, age 20-30, in the adjacent county of Pitt. Richard has a wife, age 20-30, no children. I suspect that this was the first husband of Sidney. Just a guess.
1840 census of North Side Neuse River, Craven Co., North Carolina shows this:
Joseph Wiggins, age 20-30, with one son age 5-10 and one daughter age 5-10 with no wife.
1850 census of Craven Co., North Carolina shows this:
Joseph Wiggins 44, laborer, born in NC
Sidney Wiggins 35, NC
Major Wiggins 10, NC
Fred Wiggins, 8, NC
Edward Wiggins, 7, NC
Ellen Wiggins, 3, NC
Next door is Alexander Wiggins, 46 and family (possible brother)
1860 census of North Side Neuse River, Craven Co., North Carolina shows this:
Joseph Wiggins 54, farmer, NC
Sidney Wiggins 54, seamstress, NC
Fredrick Wiggins 17, farm laborer, NC
Edward Wiggins 15, farm laborer, NC
1870 census of Swift Creek, Craven Co., NC shows this:
Joseph Wiggins 50, farmer, NC
Sydney Wiggins 49, NC
Edward Wiggins 21, farm laborer, NC

15 May 1844--Grand Jury presentment of children "who should be provided with Masters" included the following: "Bryan Abrams aged about 14 years Son of Sidney Abrams living on Big Swift Creek
Not sure what all this means. I am not related to this line of Abrams. My Abrams ancestors were from Newberry Co., South Carolina.
