Abt / Apt family

My great great grandmother,Betty ( Breifchen) Abt was born in 1835 in Rohrenfurth, Hesse, Germany. She married Mendel Solomon Stern in 1863 and apparently she was also married to David Neuman Linz.
Her parents were probably Leiser ( Lazarus) Apt ( 1799 - 1848)and Esther Rosenblatt.
Her grandparents were Moses Apt ( 1769-1808) and Meriam Moses from Melsungen, Hesse, Germany.
Her great grandparents were Leiser Apt ( 1723-1797) and Edel Moses also from Melsungen, Germany.

I am aware that her siblings have family who live in South Africa, Israel, Australia, Pennsylvania and Michigan. I am in contact with family in the US and Israel.

Any information would be appreciated.
Sincerely,
Lauren Stern Kedem
Israel
laurenskd@hotmail.com

Adam Abt; 1804-1892; Germany>Scott Co., IA

Davenport Daily Leader (Davenport, Iowa)
February 9, 1892

Abt
Another old settler passed away this morning. Adam Abt who has resided at 1006 Harrison street for many years. Adam Abt was born in Bavaria, Germany, in the year 1804. Half a century ago he came to America, coming to Scott county in 1847, where he has lived ever since. He became engaged in the shoe business in which he continued until about eighteen years ago when he retired from active life.
His health was remarkably good for a man of his advanced years. In fact he was able to go around without any assistance. His eyesight remained sound so that he was able with the assistance of spectacles to read the newspapers without any trouble. He suffered from no malady whatever until last Friday, when he became seriously ill from the effects of a slight cold, which he had caught a few days before. A physician was called in Saturday morning, who pronounced him to be laboring under an attack of pneumonia. He lingered until 1:20 o’clock this morning, when he passed away.
Mr. Abt kept a shop on Front street between Brady and Main streets from about the close of the war until 1873, the same year that occurred the death of his wife. Since then he has remained at home, provided for by his son, Adam, who remained with him to the last.
The funeral will take place Thursday morning with services at St. Joseph’s church at 9 o’clock. Interment will be in St. Mary’s cemetery.

(Note: I am not related to this family & have no other information)

Joseph Anton Abt + Kresenz Knecht family

Joseph Anton Abt and wife Kresenze Knecht lived in the village of Bergatreute, Donaukreis, Wuerttemberg. They had at least the following children: Agatha (b. 1856), Kresenz (b. 1852), Theres (b. 1853) and Matthias. After the death of the parents, the children were taken in according to Orphan Law by John George Kloeckler and his wife Sophie Lock. Two of the Abt girls married Kloeckler sons: Agatha married Tiber Kloeckler, 30 Jan. 1873 in Bergatreute, and Theres or Theresia married Joseph Kloeckler, Nov. 25, 1872 in Bergatreute. Both these families went to the U.S., and I believe Matthias did also. I'd like to hear from anyone related to these folks. (I'm a descendant of John George and Sophie Kloeckler, but not an Abt.)

Married to Theresa Esaman. Emigrated to USA from Beke, Hungary in 1901, along with two sons, Stephen, age 8, and Jacob, age 6. Had a daughter, Theresa, who apparently died in Hungary, then had a son,Andrew, born in Wisconsin, and died at a young age in Wis. Another son, Joseph was born in Ringle, Wis. and died there at about 70 years of age.
On the 1905 census, (Marathon Co, Wis) they vehemently claimed to be "Magyars" because nationality, Hungarian, was scribbled out and almost illegibly Magyar was written above it.
Would like to find the name of the Ship and the passenger list they came over on. On one document, it was listed as departing from Fiume, Italy, but no name was given. The year should be 1901.
Also looking for Esamann name, wife of Andreas,(in English, Andrew). Esamann could be a link to where they came from and other info.

ABT (Ernestine or Rosina)

I am looking for any family history on my Great grandmother Ernestine Abt (Froese). All I know is that she married Franz Theodore Froese, and had 3 children: Herman (my grandfather), Ernest, Marie. I believe she then died and my grandfather married her sister, Rosina Abt (Froese). The had 8 children together: Lena, Martha, Karl, Paul, Hilda, Clara, Art, and Franz (who died at the age of 3yrs). They must have been in Posselau Ostpreisen, Germany in the year 1897, because that is when my Grandfather was born. Please if anyone has any info on this family line, reply. Thank you.
~Brynja~
