I have mention of a Johann Ludwig Ache being one of three brothers arriving in the US in 1742. Another note states the brothers arrived 9/22/1752. (PA German Pioneers, Ralph Strassberger) All of the information I have was typed by someone so there could be a typo. Johannes Jacob and Hermannus are the other brothers. I don't have any information of his descendants though. I am descendant of one of the brothers.

Ok, I randomly found this on line today and I can't believe this. I found a long lost relative. Webster Achey of Doylestown was my Great Grandfather. The law office has changed it's name but at the last family visit after my Great Grandmother's passing 1989, his portrait still hung in the office.

I am searching for information on my GGG Grandfather Benjamin Achey. The only information I have is that Benjamin married Almira Shaffer on March 28, 1850 in Franklin (County?), Ohio. Ben and Almira had only 1 child that I know of and his name is Orlando A. Achey, born June 7, 1851 in Ohio. Orlando married Lydia F. Whittel (Whittle) on March 2, 1882 in Miami County, Indiana.

Any information on this Achey family is greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

Hi, I am trying to find where my husband's name originates from. His grandfather appeared one day in Quito, Ecuador around 1915 and so far nobody knows exactly where he came from. He was about 30 years of age. He spoke Spanish well and everyone assumed that he came from Spain. By trade he was a woodcarver and became quite prominent one in the city at the time. He marry a local woman. After his death his wife kept the secret and to this day they don't know exactly what their background is except for the fact that there is no other person with that last name except their family in South America. So far we have been unsuccessful to find anyone that can give us any information or idea as wher to look for. If you people can give me some ideas I would really appreciate it . Thank you.

Judy,

Webster Achey was my mothers 2nd cousin. My mother is Kathryn Joyce Achey and her father was Robert Achey. Robert's father was Benjamin Achey who was the brother of Michael F. Achey. Michael F. Achey is the father to Webster and J. Warren so that makes Webster Robert's cousin. Webster had a law practice here in Doylestown. I don't believe it is there anymore. It was called Powers, Bowen and Valimont but I think it used to be Achey and Powers (not real positive on that) . Hope this helps.

Wow, what a lot of information! Yes I think that is the Webster Achey, I was looking for. But I still dont know how my Father [ Elwyn H. Achey ] fits into this picture. The only thing I know about his Father, was that his name was Harry Achey, and that Webster Achey was his cousin or something.

Harry Achey married my Grandmother Maude Cheney in 1897 in Philadelphia Pa. .My Grandfather deserted his family
when my Dad was a a very young boy. After that- all information stopped.

Does your resources refer at all to any Harry Achey?
Once again , Thank You for taking the time to send me this.

Sue Achey of TN

The following passage is taken from "HISTORY OF TEXAS, together with a Biographical History of the Cities of Houston Galveston, Containing a concise history of the State, with Portraits Biographies of prominent citizens of the above named cities, and Personal histories of many of the early settlers and leading families," Chicago, The Lewis Publishing Company, 1895. Entry was for Francis Collins.

'November 17, 1876, is the date of Mr Collin's marriage to Sue L. Achey, a native of Nashville, Tennessee, and daughter of P. H. and Rebecca R. (Moore) Achey. Her father was born in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania in 1817, and died in 1890: and his father once owned land where now stands the great city of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Rebecca R. Moore was born at Orange Court House, Virginia near Richmond, March 21, 1821, a daughter of William Susan (Day) Moore, her parents having married June 2, 1803. Concerning the death of Mrs Rebecca R. Achey, a Chattanooga, (Tennessee) paper had the following.
"Funeral of a Remarkable Woman"
"Rebecca R. Achey (nee Moore), was born in 1821, February 15, at Orange Court House, near Richmond, Virginia. Mrs Achey was a direct descendant of President Madison, a cousin of President Taylor and a relative of Jefferson Davis' first wife. Her parents moved to Nashville, Tennessee, when she was quite young. The 14th day of May, 1846, she married P.H. Achey, the private secretary of Governor Andrew Johnson. She was the mother of five children. One son, the eldest, lives in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and is an engineer on the Lookout Mountain Broad-Gauge Railroad. She had been a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church, South, for fifty years. Her death occurred at the home of her son, in St. Elmo, Thursday, June 6, and she was buried in Forest Hill Cemetery Friday, June 7, 1889. Rev. J. Wesley Smith preached the funeral Sermon."

Hi yes, I got it a work and I can only send out through the work address and I didn't want to do that and I forgot to write down your address. The Pennsylvania State archives are in Harrisburg. I'm going to try to go out on Tuesday, May 15th since were closed for Election Day. I asked my mom, but the names do not ring a bell with her. She was born 6-9-1922 in Quakertown, PA but she is the only one really left on the Achey side except for her sister who is 10 years younger than her. I'll let you know what I find out in Harrisburg next week.
