Ackerman dies; ex-attorney general here
Walter D. Ackerman, Jr., 54, Territorial attorney general for Hawaii from 1947 to 1952 died this morning at his Kaneoche Bay Drive home.
Funeral arrangements are pending, and will be handled by Williams Mortuary.
Mr. Ackerman was born in Honolulu.
He attended Punahou School and Stanford University and practiced law in Honolulu from 1940. He was Hawaii's deputy attorney general from 1940 to 1943.
He was a member of the Hawaii Territorial Guard Reserve from 1942 to 1943, and belonged to Kappa Sigma, Phi Delta Phi, and the Kaneohe Yacht Club.
He is survived by his wife, Ella B.; five daughters, Mrs. James (Sandra) Kucharski, Mrs. Richard (Sally) Critchlow, Patricia, Laurie and Linda; and two sons, Walter and Alan.
