James Madison Acord, Sr. was my 2nd gr-grandfather. He served in the Civil War in the 1st Ohio Heavy Artillery. His brothers, Absolam, Wesley, William and David also served in the C.W. Other siblings were John, Sylvester (who was blind in 1870 census), Margaret Elizabeth, Lydia, Matilda.

Their father was John Acord (Eckert) b. 1791 in PA and their mother was Margaret Atwood b. 1803 in VA. John & Margaret were married in 1822 in Muskingum County, Ohio and were still there in 1830 when my grandfather James was born. Sometime after, they moved to Huntington Twp, Ross County and eventually to Pike County, Ohio. They are buried in Ross County, near Richmondale.

I am particularly interested in any information on this family while they resided in Muskingum County and before. I would like to learn about John and Margaret's parents. Any information on this family would be greatly appreciated. I will gladly share what I have on this family from 1850 forward.
