Which of Joseph's 6 children are you descended from? Do you have those names?
I highly suspect John is Joseph's father, but have not been able to yet prove it. In 1870, Poweshiek Co, IA census, we find Joseph (age 69), Margaret (age60) and Jefferson (their son, 20). In 1830, Perry Co. OH we find just Joseph E. Acord and Margaret (they were married here). There were two other Acord marriages in Perry Co. about the same time , Phoebe Acord and George Jumper (1822) and Sarah Acord and Ruben Leonard (1825). The name Sarah pops up a lot in this family. In 1850, Joseph and Margaret are still listed in Perry Co. with 6 children. Also in 1850 Perry Co, is listed an Enoch Acord, who I believe is the younger brother of Joseph (1801). Living with him is a John Acord (age 84) who was b. in PA. This fits with the info from a later census that shows Joseph's (1801) father being b. in PA. As I say, still haven't proven it yet, but it seems a strong lead.
Also of interest is a birth record for a Sarah Acord b. 1810 PA to John Acord and Elizabeth in Fayette Co. Is this another Sibling of John and Enoch'S. BTW, Enoch shows up in IA along with Joseph Margaret and some Kimbles (which I am just now getting around to!)
With school ended will be back on the trail of these folks during the summer. Would love to trade info with you. A lot of the IA info came from a researcher from Poweshiek Co. She forwarded obits and such that I would be happy to share. Like you, am excited to find someone researching the same line!!
