I'm a descendant of the Acton's of Alabama. It would be interesting to trace the history all the way back to England. My great-great grandmother was Ida Belle Acton. Her father was Stephen Vincent Acton who was married to Lougenia Morris. There is a lot of information about the Acton's if you look online for the Shelby County Historical Society, Inc. Museum & Archives. You can write them and ask for information.

My mother passed away in January of 2010. I'm still going through all of her stuff, but I've found lots of beautiful photographs and newspaper articles about her family (her mother is an acton descendant). I found an absolutely beautiful photograph/portrait of my great-great grandmother Ida Belle Acton. I always wondered what she looked like. Going through my mom's stuff is a treasure hunt, lot's of information.

I would like to trace the family back through england because I hope to visit there one day.
