Hi Diane,

I've done all I can do on the PUGH lines. You already know who I believe their parents are, but would like to prove it. With no Wills or early death records and others not searching the other PUGH's it's hard to prove. But going by all I've found and all I know I believe I have the parents correct.

Theresa

Hi there, my name is Dawna Higgins. Charlie Monroe Acup is my grandma Donna Sue Acup's father. He was born May 8, 1889, died March 28, 1955. His name was spelt Charley though. I've got a copy of his death certificate so far. I can't seem to find anything about Annie C. Cook though (his wife who gave birth to Donna). On the death certificate, it has a lady named Magdaline Acup as his wife.

I can't place your name, but you are possibly a cousin of mine. Dora Acup was my aunt. Her brother, Marion Jackson Carrel, was my father and Rosie Kegley was their sister. Perhaps you have a record of who the father and mother were of Thomas Marion Carrel who was born 10 Apr 1854 in Bradley County, Tennessee and died31 Jul 1933 in Vandalia, Illinois. I have seen Simon, Thomas, and Samuel Carrel listed as the father and Lurena (Lorinda) Archer or Arenon something listed as the mother so I am really confused. If I have any info you could use, I would be happy to share. My name is Betty Carrel McNeal. E-mail is waltermcneal@gci.net.

Hey Theresa -- I just read through your postings with Sharon (after I posted the information on Luley and William T). It appears that information is both old and perhaps inaccurate. Sorry.

I do have the name of the source of this information - Bonnie Benton - I don't have her email or other contact information. Her great grandmother was a half-sister to Luley and she allegedly has a big file on the Collins.

Good luck!

Hi Sharon,

Thanks but I have a copy of their marriage also.
I've been to Missouri twice now and and have headstones etc.
Some did call her Luley, but most know her as Lula the ones that are alive anyway.
Lula was married 5 times and Wm. PUGH was her 1st.
I sent a copy of that same marriage awhile back to another lady who was from the PHILLIPS line.
Lula's mother is Frances Ardelia COLLINS and she was not married when she had Lula that's why me and others show her as Louvina " Lula " Mordecia (Collins) MORRIS.
She took on the MORRIS surname of her step-father.
Lula's sister is Mary Nevada Elizabeth MORRIS b.1880 and she married William Washington PUGH b.1880 KY.
They were married February 05, 1899 in Bollinger Co, MO. also.
Emma was abt. 10 years old when Wm. PUGH married Lula.
Lula is not the mother of Emma.
This is where the brickwall is at on the PUGH lines.
Nobody knows who the father is for Emma, Elzora and William W. PUGH. I was also given some other sibling name and I'm working on that now.
So far all we know for sure is two male PUGH's born abt. 19 years apart married the two MORRIS sisters.
I do have a family tree on-line at ancestry.com if you want to see it. Do a search looking under the name of Elzora PUGH b.1875 KY. married to Wm. H. LANE.
There are a few others out their some with a little different / wrong info. My tree shows some info like census, S.S. etc.
I try to back up my info the best I can with certificates and talking to people on the PUGH side that I have found alive and they don't know anything. So this has really been hard.
Me and a couple others thought that Wm. PUGH who married Lula had some of these children from a 1st marriage.
But that new info I was told on Emma's sisters obit shows their father was a Charles PUGH. So now I'm going to try to get that obit now that I know where the other sister died at.

Theresa

Hi Dave,

I was just re-reading some of our old post.
By any odd chance does your father or anyone he knows have the obit for Emma Lou Frances (Pugh) ACUP?
I am trying to put together the PUGH line and can't find anyone who knows who the parents are for Emma Lou Frances (Pugh) ACUP. Other than a couple think her father was named William and mother unknown.
And so far can't find one person searching this PUGH lineage either.
I do have some info on this PUGH line but nobody knows who the parents are...only hear say abt. the father as William.
I am from the line of Elzora PUGH b.1875 KY. ( my GGgrandmother ) who married William Henry LANE and they lived in Wayne Co,MO.
Elzora died bef. 1907 and we don't know who her parents are either since her daughter Minnie (Lane) MATTHEWS died age 22 in White Co, Arkansas.
Elzora (Pugh) LANE's son named William Washington LANE lived in St. Louis, MO. and died 1962 and his death certificate has his no info either.
I need every clue I can get to break through this brickwall.
Thanks for reading,

Theresa theresagriffiths@iwon.com
My mother has worked extensively on this as well, complete with headstone info, census papers, etc. Maybe you could talk to her. I will forward this to her. Maybe she has something I'm missing. I really don't know.

I too have a copy of the marriage certificate that my mom got from doing research at the library in MO and from other family members. It clearly states that W.T Pugh married a Luley Morris. Sorry, that is all I have. I'd be happy to send you the copy I have and anything else in hopes that it would help. I know this can be hard what with records missing or too old.

Emma Pugh's parents were W.T. Pugh and Luley M. Morris. They were married on Dec. 7, 1892 in Bollinger County, MO. Hope this helps. How are you related to the Pugh's or Phillips'?
