Addams in Harrison Co, Cynthiana, KY, found photo

Attached is a photo from Cynthiana KY and on the back it says:
"Addams girls, Rilla, Cora, & Lucy". After doing some research on the 1880 & 1900 census for Harrison Co. KY, they are found with parents William Addams (though on the census it has Adams) and Cora Addams. This is NOT my family; I am sharing in case it means something to someone. Let me know if this picture is important to you. Rilla Addams married Perry Rufus Megibben.

Gustus & Pamelia Addams

My Grandfather lost these two people early in life as parents. (1891 & 1893) He was from Cedarville, IL. would anyone know if Gustus was related to the Jane Addams family of Cedarville, IL? Also if you knew of Gus, as he was called, he was an auctioneer in the area. His wife was from Lena and was a Stahl. Any info on them would be appreciated. My grandfather moved to Hotchkiss, CO and was Harry H. Addams and had a brother named James J. Addams. Their aunt raised them after the loss of their parents.

Searching for Addams family, VT and possibly FL.

I was told as a girl that my paternal grandfather, Robert Carlson, was adopted. From what I understand, he remained with his mother, Gladys, but the story seems to be that he was born out of wedlock and adopted by a man Gladys married later who MAY have been a Carlson.

I've heard that he was born an Addams (or Adams) but I don't know if that was Gladys's maiden name, Robert's birth father's surname, or something else. I suppose it's also possible that he was simply born before his biological parents married, but that's not the implication I got.

I have only very sporadic contact with my father and he doesn't recall any information beyond what I'm presenting here. I have not spoken to anyone on his side of the family since I was a toddler so I'm flying a little blind here.

I know that my father, Wade, and all of his siblings were born in Vermont and he is the youngest of five. I know that my paternal grandmother's maiden name was Rose LeBlanc, but I don't know where the marriage took place or when- my oldest aunt was born in 1953. I don't know where my grandfather was born or the year (18 JUL), but I believe I've found an SSDI entry for Gladys that, if correct, states that her SSN was issued in Florida and she was born in 1910. She died a Carlson, so she was either born one or never remarried.

I really hope someone out there might have been charting an Addams branch that was in Vermont or Florida at some point and can shed a little more light on the situation.

HI My guess, and an educated type of guess, they went west after the Rev. War, because if they fought for the south they didn't want to be in the north, and Md. is on the line, so, if they fought for the north, they didn't want to be in the perceived MD south. So, they moved west. Probably also because others had already started inhabiting the western part of PA and OHIO, IN, ILL THEY wanted to start a new life. Social research Well you posted on the Milliken tree, so how are you related to Millikan?

I'm descended from Elizabeth Adams(1777-1870), daughter of Eli and Sophira Adams. Elizabeth married James Crawford from Prince Georges, MD. They moved to Xenia, Ohio. I'm interested in social history. Why did so many Crawfords and Adams move to the midwest at the end of the 18th century? What was happening after the Rev. War economically? I'm also interested in the history of Somerset Co. and the eastern shore of Cheaspeake Bay.

I think there's a connection here! I have people from those places in my tree, such as Angelo and Polly from Coventry Parish, Somerset County, MD.

There's a place where husband and wife were first AND second cousins! My ggg grandfather, Bartley Crawford's, parents were Eli Crawford and Nancy Adams, who were first cousins. Bartley's brother Isaac married Nancy's brother's daughter Artemesia. Isaac and Artemesia were first cousins because his mother and her father were brothers, and second cousins because his father and her father were brothers--or something like that!

I also have Addams from Snow Hill, MD.

I also have a Thomas Addams born around 1614 in Northamptonshire, England. He was my 11th great-grandfather!

Here's how it goes from Thomas to me:

(Addams) Thomas, Phillip, Thomas, Abraham, Phillip, Sophira, Angelo, Nancy, (Crawford) Bartley, Rachel, (Rose) Mary Maude, (Barrett) Doris, (Holland) Christie, me, then my son.

CLARISSA ADDAMS

I am researching on my gr-grandmother's line, and through a cousin of mine, it was discovered through a death certificate that the parents of Nicholas Phrambes were David Frambus and Clara ?. Looking through a list of NJ marriages, I found a David Frambus marrying a Clarissa Addams in Burlington County, NJ on 24 Sept. 1804. I am not sure if I am on the right track, but I tried searching Clarissa Addams/Adams on the internet and nothing is coming up. So, I am placing a post here to see if anyone has seen this name before, within the Burlington County, NJ area. Thanks for any info.

Addams Family

Having been performing genealogical research on the Addams' family, I am particularly interested in making contacts with descendants of M.D.L.Addams. He married Amelia Luft and they had at least one child, Charles Huey. Charles was born abt. 1860 in Reading, Berks, Pennsylvania, was married 15 November 1880 to Belle Martha Landon (Iroquois Indian) in Danville, Vermilion, Illinois. Charles and Belle had three children: David M., Charles, and Henry. David M. was born 23 October 1882; married Nettie Marie Shawver on 12 July 1924 in Crawfordsville, Montgomery, Indiana; and died 14 February 1960 in Blanchester, Clinton, Ohio. Very little is known about Charles. Henry was married to Kitty (?). David M. and Nettie had three children: Charles (b. 1925, d. 1925), Cecil (b. 1926, living), and Marybelle (b. 1927, living). It is also known that Henry had three children: Barbara Jean, David, and John (Jack). Would appreciate hearing from anyone in this line. My e-mail address is L_L@worldnet.att.net and my postal mailing address is 5642 Rauch Road, P.O.Box 414, Carroll, OH 43112 - Gary K.
Joe,

Sorry I didn't reply sooner ... I'm recovering from an accident in March and just now back on line.

My mother is Martha ADAMS WOOD and grew up in Cerro Gordo, she has lots of stories about the Freydenger boys!

Her parents were Erna & Maude ADAMS and I own the lot where their house stood. There were two different ADAMS families that I can identify in Cerro Gordo and I haven't been able to connect them.

Our ADDAMS family history starts with Thomas ADDAMS who immigrated from Gravesend, Enland in 1636 at the age of 21 aboard the ship Primrose. The family stayed on the eastern shore of the Chesapeake Bay (Virginia & Maryland), Somerset Co, Maryland until the late 1790's when they migrated to the western wilds of Kentucky, then on to Pickaway Co, Ohio and finally settled in Cerro Gordo, Piatt Co, Illinois.

We're looking for any family connections. Research is posted at worldconnect.com, search on Thomas ADDAMS.
