She was born 14 Dec 1865 in Davenport, Scott, IA. dtr of Charles Henry and Josephine Thompson Eldridge. She is also on record as Carrie/Caroline Frank or Burpee in Vermillion, IL.
After her stepmother Rebecca E. Thompson Eldridge's death in 1871 in Davenport, Carrie went to live with her Aunt Sarah Thompson Ade of Davenport. Later, Carrie was placed in the home of a cousin, Mrs. Ella Chandler in Mahaska County, IA. In 1886, Caroline Eldridge Frank stated in a deposition given in Scott Count, IA, that she was married. At teh time of her father's death in 1892 from a fall down an elevator shaft in Kansas City, MO., she is mentioned in his obituary as Mrs. Carrie Burpee of Vermillion, IL
