Does anyone have a SAMUEL ADJUTANT --- I believe in the NEW HAMPSHIRE area.. Any listing of Samuel Adjutant marrying a JANE E. TUFTS? or French perhaps sometime between 1875 and 1900?

I don't know where to begin, as this is all very confusing (!), but here goes: -----

This is a round-about inquiry, but I'm hoping that if I could find this Samuel Adjutant who was married to Jane E. Tufts, then perhaps I could further trace the records of Jane E. Tufts to find out if she was ever really also married at some time to my grandfather Leander Hartwell French in Farmington, NH!..I have only sparse info from one source showing that Leander French was married to a Jane E. Tufts and they had a child Allen C., But there's no marrg. date info for them and no birth date/place info for the child Allen C. There's no divorce info for Leander French/Jane E. Tufts, but there's an indication that "Jennie" (aka Jane E. Tufts) went on to m2)SAMUEL ADJUTANT on Sept. 24, 1899 in Wakefield, NH.

My research has been showing Leander French married on Nov. 17, 1875 to a Jennie Colvin. I show a child named Alden P. French born to them in Aug. 1878 in Milton or Farmington, NH. (Alden P. French married Laurentinna Runnells on Sept. 7, 1899) I show that Leander French Jennie M. Colvin divorced in Feb. 1899. Leander French then went on to m2) Nettie Belle Tufts/Rollins on Sept. 19, 1900. Nettie is my grandmother. Leander and Nettie had one child, my dad, Lawrence L. French b. 1905 in New Durham, NH.

I had no idea that my grandfather Leander French may have had three wives: a Jennie Colvin, a Jane E. Tufts, and a Nettie Belle Tufts! It's possible that the "Jennie Colvin" and the "Jane E. Tufts" are one and the same person?

Very confusing, huh? I'm trying to untangle it, and thought that following the SAMUEL ADJUTANT clue might help.... Anyone else having this same problem or have any info to clarify all of this?

Here's another question: (There's a Samuel Adjutant in my friend Barb's line, too). Samuel Adjutant married Hannah (Welch) Eldridge, widow of Stephen. Stephen Hannah had a daughter who married a Perkins....... Anyone have anything connected to this??

I found some Adjutants listed in the Tuftonboro, Carroll county, NH 1850 Census, including a Samuel Adjutant age 46 at that time.

Please post any replies here, or email me at - Yes, I live in Hawaii, but my roots are New Hampshire!
