Re: SAMUEL ADJUTANT ?? New Hampshire --Can Anyone Help??

Bonnie, THANK you so much for your input on the Adjutant line. I still don't know how the Samuel I'm researching fits into the line you've shown. But what you have provided may be some good clues for me. My reason for checking into "Samuel D. Adjutant" was basically to help me identify my "Jennie M. Colvin" and/or "Jane E. Tufts" (per my original posting. Actually, It's now beginning to look like THEY are both one & the same person.) It is my hope that if I can find anything on Samuel D. Adjutant's marriage to a Jennie M. Colvin French or a Jane E. Tufts French, it might give some info on the parents of Jennie or Jane E. and help solve my mystery.

The only internet info I've been able to find on "Adjutant" was at a site by Michael & Diana Reardon --It notes that Samuel Adjutant (born before 1806) was married to Jerusha Dore Adjutant d/o Beniah Dore Sr. & Eunice White Dore. It shows the children of Samuel Adjutant & Jerusha Dore to be:
. Samuel D. Adjutant (b. 1806, Exeter), m. HANNAH WELCH in Tuftonboro Oct. 5, 1861. (Hannah b. Plaistow 1828).
. George W. Adjutant (b.1830, Ossipee; d. 10-22-1884 in Wakefield, age 54, run over by a train)

None of the above dates seem to fit into the 1899 marriage date of my Jennie/Jane E. to the Samuel D. Adjutant I'm seeking. As this was the third marrg. for S.D.Adjutant, he would have been getting on in years by 1899, probably in his 50's or 60's. Without going back to double check on this, at the moment, I recall another non-internet bit of info ...that a Samuel Adjutant was also married to an Adie Colbath at one time and I was thinking he might be the same one that was married to my "Jennie".
Well, I guess we haven't really solved anything, but perhaps sooner or later all the pieces will somehow come together.
I thank you, and I'll keep your info on hand -- and maybe we'll find out how or whether or not we connect in some way!
Much aloha, Elaine

Hi Patti, long time ole friend. I just sent a reply to Elaine and she is right. Our Samuel D Adjutant are two different people. Still haven't found how our two people are connected in the tree out of curiosity. My Samuel D b 1806 and married Nancy Dore and most likely buried somewhere in Ossipee where they died. This isn't my blood line, but, that of my ex and putting together this to add for my girls. Their son Parkman b 1836 Ossipee d 1903 Ossippe married Priscilla Thompson b 1828 d 1894. I don't where she was born or died, nor do I know where this couple is buried. Most likely in Ossipee too. She was the daughter of Samuel Thompson and Betsey Canney. Don't even have dates for that couple. I haven't spent much time researching on my ex-s line. Charlie and I were going to fly up next month to visit his mother in Tuftonboro, but, plans were cancelled. I was going to attempt a grave search. Talk to you later Patti. Later, Bonnie Brown Ruff

Hi Elaine, it has been a while. Your right, I no longer think that your Samuel D is the same Samuel D as mine. My Samuel D was born 1806 in Exeter, NH and son of Samuel & Jerusha (Dore) Adjutant. My Samuel D had three marriages, but, to Jerusha Thompson 2/1828, Nancy Dore c1835, Hannah Welch 10/5/1861. Do you have the parents of Lucy Dore and her husband Samuel?

Bonnie, I'm glad that some parts of my message seem to have been helpful .. but please note that I really have no way to be sure how accurate it may or may not be - I was just letting you know what I'd come across when I "searched"!

I'll contact my friend Barb and ask her to check out our postings since it's possible that the Samuel Adjutant and Hannah Welch Eldridge she's trying to connect to might be the one you've mentioned.

I haven't been able to matchup anything datewise for the Samuel D. Adjutant whom I'm trying to identify who married
Addie Colbath Oct. 21, 1894 and married my Jennie M. (Colvin or Tufts) French on Sept. 24, 1899. He supposedly had 3 marriages, so I was thinking that perhaps my friend Barb's Hannah Welch was one of them, but now it looks like
Hannah Welch was one of the wives of Your Samuel D. Adjutant. So, I guess Mine is Another Samuel D. Adjutant and I'll just have to keep looking!

Let's keep in touch with each other whenever we discover anything new. Till next time,.... Many thanks, Elaine

The Samuel Daniels Adjutant I have b 1802 Exeter, NH d aft 1880 in Ossipee, did marry three times. I didn't have his third wife's surname until you just sent it. His 1st wife was Jerusha Thompson and they married 2/1828. 2nd was Nancy Dore (the ancestorial wife of my ex. married c1835), then the 3rd was Hannah Welch (I showed a year of birth 1823) and you just provided the surname. Now I show Samuel Daniels Adjutant the son of Samuel Adjutant b-bef 1780 & Jerusha Daniels bc1780. They married 7/10//1800 in Exeter, NH Their children were Samuel D, Mary, George. I'll need to check and see if Jerusha was married to a Daniels prior to marrying Adjutant, if you show her being born a Dore. Will check back with you on this.
The Samuel Adjutant from Carroll County area if NH was an ancestor to my ex-husband, who was an Adjutant. There isn't much on the Adjutant line. The Samuel Adjutant you spotted in the 1850 Census was born 1802 in Exeter, NH d- 1903 in Ossipee, NH and married a Nancy Dore of Ossipee. (He was the son of Samuel Sr (son of John b-c1750 who died in Vermont) & Jerusha (Daniels) Adjutant who married 7/10/1800 in Exeter, NH) Samuel Jr also had a brother George b c1803 and a sister Mary b-c 1804.They had a son Parkman b-1836 Ossipee, NH who married Priscilla Thompson b-1828 d 1894. They had a son Martin b 1855 Ossipee d 11/22/1960 who married Ella Glidden b 1855 Portland, Maine d 1/23/1923 Wolfeboro, NH. Daughter of Daniel Glidden b 1829 NH. Their children all born in Ossipee were: 1) Alta b c1882, 2) Anna b-c 1883, 3) Earl Floyd b-c 1884, 4) Flossie b-c1885, 5) Martin Bonn b-c1886, 6) Maud b-c1887, 7) Harry Lester b 1888 d 5/11/1931 Ossipee m-(12/3/1913 Tuftonboro) Gennie Mable Dore b 12/24/1895 Ossipee d 3/7/1963 Rochester, NH. 8) Carl Raymond b 1895 d 1969 Rochester, also married Gennie Mable Dore after his brother died. They didn't have any children together. There is a family thought that the Adjutants may have traveled down from Canada. I'm sorry I couldn't assist you in your quest, but, woulf be interested in knowing who this Samuel you mentioned connects to this line above.
