My grandfather was Frederick William Adkin, Walthemstow/Woodford area, worked as a bookie. His father, John, worked in the brickmaking trade in the early 1900s. I think I remember my Grandmother telling me that his father (my great great grandfather) was a bootmaker from Bethnal Green.
