Gustaf Adolf?!?

I have traced my ancestry to the late 1700 and to a man by the name of Heinrich Adolf. 1798(ish)-****. It took a subscription to Geanology.com and quite a good little bit of time unfortunately I have not had the time to do any further research. There are records of three Heinrichs.
If anyone out their has happened to trace their tree as further back can you pass some information along please?

I am also looking for information regarding Gustaf Adolf of Sweden. That royal family history is pretty secretive, I have no idea how that kingdom stuff works but were these men "true" Adolfs? Anyone know? The basic crest information says the name orginated 1600 where all were "lords of the manor" The first Gustaf Adolf was simply born to "Victoria" and I beleive he took throne sometime pretty close to the dates the first Adolfs left Germany, and Prussia and migrated to the United States. My ancestors are dirt poor Lutherans exhiled for helping the Jews. Was their a family fued?

I am looking for relatives of Jacob Adolf ... born May 12, 1902 ... deceased Sept 28, 1929. His father was Wilhelm Adolf, mother Barbara Hahn. Jacob's children were Gordon Adolf, who later changed the spelling of his last name to "Adolph", and Beatrice (Doll).

I just stumbled on your post from last year, Louisa Adolpho was my Nans sister, my Nan was Alice Adolpho 1894-1975. I have very extensive records on the Adolph's/Adolpho's as I have been tracking them down for about 15 years now, I have certificates for most of the line and some great stories to tell. I was born in London but I have been in Australia since 1969.

That was a fast response. I'm not sure where my daughter found it, so I will have to get hold of her. She lived in Kitzengen When her husband was stationed over there. I just looked at that postcard again with the name of Fritz on it, however I didn't remember that it has the name of Fritz Friedly (?) (I'm not sure if that's his last name or if that means something else being that I don't speak German, so not sure if he's yours, but who knows?) If you want to give me your e-mail, I will scan this right away along with a couple of other pictures also & e-mail them to you.

We have been given many spellings but Adolf might have been the TRUE spelling. I am very interested in the postcard from Fritz. (you listed as included in the album)? Our Fritz Adolph was my great grandfather. (His real name was Valentine after his father born in 1862) tho not a junior. My great, great, grandfather was Valentine born in 1826 We are trying to find out where they lived over there before they came to America in 1872. I am wondering if the people in the album might be relatives. If you wouldn't mind scanning the postcard (especially) if it shows the name of Fritz I'd be very grateful. My cousin and I have been working on information for a very long time. All we know is that they lived in Alsace-Lorraine at the foot of the Vosges Mtns. My great aunt will be 97 in May and she is the only living relative that we have left. Her father was Fritz. She said her father never told them where they lived there. I guess everyone was so busy living. We've gotten everything we can from her since she was born in the United States. (knows nothing more of the "old" country.
Oh, this is exciting...might I ask what is the location of the Flea Market...it might give us a hint as to where they lived as well. We are truly stumped...Thanks in advance, Sincerely, Karen Adolph

I have spent much of the afternoon looking over this album again. Most of the letters on these postcards are addessed to Ludwig or Frederika/Freida/Rika Adolf. I'm not sure if they moved a few times or just traveled, but there were a couple of different places they were addressed to. Most were in Wilheim. I believe that he owned a Winery or Wine house because one of them was addressed to him as "winehouse owner". There was only one that I saw that had a postcard from someone by the name of Fritz. Mostly the names of the senders were from a "Sofie Adolf' and there were several from a "Franz". One was from a "Johannes Adolf" who I believe was a brother by the way it was addressed, It also addressed Ludwig as a "Privit" under his name, so I'm thinking he may have been in the service for a bit. A couple of them appeared to be men in uniform of some sort. (There were a few cards that were written to Freida from Ludwig, unless he was traveling). There were a couple from a "Rosa Wahl". Also there was a "Bettz" & also to (and also from) a "Gristina" & a "Gusta". I wish I could translate some of them but I was having a hard time reading the handwriting let alone the fact that I know no German! If you think any of these are familiar, please contact me. I could scan a couple of them to e-mail you if you like & if you have any pictures of your ancestors, you could see if there would be any resemblance. there are a couple of them that appear to be from a family gathering of some sort. I really hope these names are familiar because I would dearly love to connect this album with a family member.

We are looking for information on Valentine Adolph family. They may have lived in Dossenheim. Valentine was born in 1826 and his son Valentine, (known as Fritz), is my great grandfather was born in 1862. They emigrated to the United States in the mid 1870's. If there is anything in the album that might be from this family, please let me know. I will gladly pay to have it shipped. We are researching and it is like a "needle in the haystack" since our ancestors didn't write much information anywhere.

Rescued Photo Album:

My daughter rescued a photo album from a flea market in Germany and we would love to be able to give it to any descendants of this family for just the postage of mailing. There are names and pictures of a Ludwig and Frederika ADOLF. There are family pictures as well as a lot of postcards, a lot of which have letters to the individual or family. There are dates ranging from 1914 to the early 30s One of them is from a Johannes who I think might have been a brother. All of them are written in German and there are a couple of other names mentioned. If any of these sound familiar, please contact me.

I have Anna Marie Berbach (Berenbach) in my database. She was the daughter of Joseph Berbach (born 3 Aug 1736 in Uhlwiller, Bas-Rhin, Alsace) and Catherina Jung (b. about 1743). That would place here birth after 1757. Anna Maria married a Jean Georges Ertz. See my posted database on GenCircles to research further generations back.

Philip W. Adolf passed away in Moses Lake on May 26, 2006 at the age of 82.

Phil was born May 3, 1924 in Bethune, Colo. He met and married the love of his life, Esther Lapp on Nov. 27, 1946. They raised three daughters: Barbara, Judy and Susan. He was blessed with eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Phil was very proud to have spent his life being a farmer on the Royal Slope.

His greatest joy in life was his family and love of God. He will be missed more than words can adequately express.

He was preceded in death by his mother Mae, father Chris, two sisters -- Mildred and Irene and two brothers -- George and Dale.

He is survived by his wife Esther, children Barbara Perdue, Judy Schwartz and Susan Hall and three sisters, Lois Houle, Betty Brownawell and Helen Colby.

Memorial services were held Tuesday, May 30 at Grace Lutheran Church on Nelson Road, Moses Lake.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that remembrance be made to the American Diabetes Society.

Gravesite service to be held Friday, June 2, 2006 at Reservation Community Memorial Park at 1p.m.

I'm also looking for Lachmanns from Germany (Prussia at the time of immigration to the US. My grandfather's name was Samuel George Lachmann. He immigrated to Chicago in the late 1880's. I believe he had a brother who immigrated to Canada about the same time.
My grandmother, Alvine or Alvina Mroch? or Mroz? or ?? supposedly immigrated from Alsace-Lorraine in the late 1880s or early 1890s. She married my grandfather in 1892 I believe.

I have a bit of history from my family, but would like to trace back a bit further. My gr gr gr granddad came over from Baden, Germany about 1886. He was 6yrs old at the time. That is about the only information that i have right now. The proper names in our family tree are, Jake, Buell, and George. ANY help would be appreciated. Oh! I forgot I beliveve that our surname was changed to the Adolph spelling when they came through imigration. Thanks.

I am married to Douglas F. Adolf; father is Gerald Adolf; mother is Betty (Mann-Adolf). He has six other brothers and sisters: Donald,Dennis, Dwight, Douglas, Dawn, Darryl and Debra. Father side: Grandfather name is Frank Adolf married a Poulter(?). He has an Aunt Magdeline Hartzoldt in Lancaster, NY.

The whole family was raised in the Buffalo area. Doug has great uncle Frank Wagatha(?) he was in army airforce in Germany in the year 1916.

He has several cousins and an Aunt in Colorado. There name is Bashher (?).

He now has two grandchildren; William Ithier 111 and Jordan Douglas Ithier. His daughter's name is Tessa Stephanie Adolf she is the mother of William and Jordan. She is married to William Ithier Jr. Tessa is 23.

He also has a son name Christian Adolf. Single and 21.

Would like as much information as I can get on this side of the family. Would like to know the whole lineage.

George Adolf was my grandfather, although I know very little about him. Apparently my grandmother Gertruide Keilm Adolf has sepperated before My father was born. and I as grangdaughter didin't know his first name until I was a grown women. We grew up in CincinnaTI, ohIO, MY grandmother never remarried and the family lived 3614 Vine Stree until the 1980's My grandmother met him over in the us but have a sispision that he was from the same area white russia, prussia pollend.

I talked on the phone to Franklin Helfter in Williamsville back around 1980 and was told most of the family had moved out west. Mary Ann Knauber married Joseph Adolf in Lancaster, New York (near Buffalo). Joseph was born in 1851, son of Jacob Adolf and Maria Anna Helfter of Wittisheim, Alsace in Germany (now belongs to France). I know the Knauber family as they still live in Lancaster, where I was born.
Who are your Knauber parents, grandparents, etc and year of birth and maiden name of spouse?

I'm trying to trace my family back to Europe, but can't seem to get any further than the 1870's. Our line has been in the Philadelphia area since about 1910 or 1915. I'm told that they came down from upstate PA, from in and around Ashland. I know of one of my Grandfathers' 1st cousins(Francis)who was a priest in Jim Thorpe, PA. My children's father(my first husband) was an Adolff, from Robertsville, Ohio. We know very little about the family history. My father in law Clarence Adolff had said at one time that his family came from Alsace Lorraine. Any info you might have would be very helpful.

Sue,My father in law's name was Clarence Adolff, mother in law was Winnie Itasca Munk. Don't know any furthur back. Thought perhaps Peter Adolff and Catherine Robart were perhaps his parents because they were in Robertsville,Ohio, but Clarence does not show up as one of their chidren. I believe Clarence had a brother Orrin (not sure of spelling).
