I really don't have much on him and his family. Do you live in or around Lamourie Louisiana where Henry lived? Do you have any information on Nicey Virginia Kelly, Henry's wife? I found her marriage record to Henry and to William Potter. I have the 1880 census on Henry but I can't seem to find any earlier census for that area on Henry. My name is Michael Afeman. My ancestors came to Louisiana (port of New Orleans) from Hamburg and settled at Lamourie, Louisiana. Found census records and marriage records with name spelled Afferman. Could this have originally been Offerman? My gg grandfather was John Fredrick Henry Afferman. He married Nicey Virginia Kelly(?)--conflicting info on marriage record--she was possibly a Speights by birth. JFH Afferman supposedly came to Louisiana with a brother named Jake. Found a Henry Afferman in the same household in 1870 with Charles Afferman and family who came to Louisiana prior to 1860-----family lore on the Charles Afferman side does not include JFH Afferman, that I know of-----I could ramble on.
