My great great grandmother was : ROSA AFONSO, she was married to Antonio Goncalves. One of there children was Ana Goncalves, husband unknown. Ana's daughter was my grandmother: Amelia Goncalves/Fernandes- April 9, 1895-Jan. ?, 1987 burried at , St Michaels Cemetery, Hampton Co. Mass. She had 14 children. Amelia was married to Joao Fernandes my grandfather. ALL my grandparents came from the Cha, Montalegre, Portugal area, parish unknown.

What part of Madeira did your Afonsos come from. Do you know Simao's parents names? My ancestors seem to be mostly from Santa Cruz and Santo Antonio de Serra and also Porta da Cruz. We have many common surnames that we are researching.

My family came from Portugal to Brazil. I don´t have relatives in Italy, but I have a group about the family cima, where some people are italian.

I had a relative Maria Cima who married Ernesto Gerbeville
They lived in Basilicata,Italy. Was she related to you?

Simao afonso (b. approx 1889) and his siblings Manuel, Joao and Natalia.
Simao m. Maria Herminia De Freitas
Manuel m. Gabriela De Freitas (maria's sister)

simao and maria had children David, Herminia, Aldora and Celeste.
David (my grandfather) married maria lourdes rodrigues in Madeira and immigrated to canada around 1957.

Any information would be useful!

Ela viveu na região norte de Portugal, próximo 'a serra do Barroso. Se casou, no inicio da século XX, com Julio de Cima, cujos pais vieram da Espanha e tiveram seis filhos:
Alberto (meu avô), Cândida, Maria, Antônio, Fátima e Julio Cesar.

Is there some Joaquina Afonso in your family ? Perhaps a sister or cousin of your greatgrandmother ?

My greatgrandmother's name was Joaquina Afonso and she lived in the north region of Portugal, near the Barroso mountains (and near to Montalegre too).

Joaquina Afonso married with Julio de Cima, who was a taylor.

My gggrandmother was Rosa Afonso, born in: Cha, Montalegre, Portugal. She was married to :Antonio Goncalves in the early 1800s. One of there children was: Ana Goncalves my greatgrandmother. One of Ana's children was: Amelia Goncalves who married: Joao Fernandes in St. Vincents Church in Cha, Montalegre, Portugal on: November 10, 1913.Amelia was my grandmother.

Died 1948 Detroit, Michigan, owned home in Detroit
located at 3474 Towsend Street. His mothers name was
Carmela Festa. He was married to Cathrine Siciliano.
