Does anyne know about Melvin Agans from Albany, NY? He was my grandfather. There seems to be a connection with the Joseph Wemett name. At the Albany Memorial Cemetary, I saw my great grandmother's head stone and her name was Etta Mae Wemett. The story goes that when my grandfather was a child, his mother was very sick. On her death bed, she asked a friend to care for her son. The friend agreed, but my grandfather had to take their name, Agans. Apparently, originally his last name was Davis. At some time my grandfather spent time in an orphanage, but it burnt down with all the records. Grandpa married Arletta Arris in 1909 and they continued to live in Albany, NY until their deaths. I have realatives still living in Albany and my immediate family live in PA. Can anyone make a connection?

There also seems to be a connection with the Sanford Hane name from 1852. Sanford married Alice Warner, who then had a child named Lillian. I can't tell yet, but the Agans family name comes in with Raymond Agans and Lionel Davis connected to Lillian. I have a family tree chart my Dad, Robert Agans (born in Albany 1938, deceased 2002).

My grandfather was Clifford Dwight Agans. I know he is decended from the Agans family from Schuyler County, Illinois who immigrated from County Tyrone, Ireland. My information got erased from my email before I could print it. If anyone has this information, please contact me at my email address. I remember Albert and Anna Agans were some of his relatives. Someone had forwarded me a 7 generation tree going back to Ireland. I would love to have this information again if possible. Thank you.

Hello Erica,
I was married to Earl & Florence's son Wayne for about 10 years. I had a fire and lost all the info I had collected on the family and was trying to regain as much as I possibly could for our daughter Jennifer.
I am doing genealogy work on my family and wanted to try and get more info on the rest of the Agans' families.
I have lost contact with Ed & Betty and the rest so I can't get there to check things out with them such as their kids & grandkids, etc.
Any info you would care to share would be greatly appreciated.

Robert Agans as named in your message is the earliest name on my family tree. The paper the tree is on has deteriorated over time so a lot of the later entries are illegible. Two names do stick out namely Daisy Plum and Harry Plum. we know the family was in N.J at the time of Robert. A lot of relatives are still there although I dont know any of them. We have never been able to go back farther than Robert so have no idea where he came from. Any information you may have in this regard would be greatly appreciated. Am trying to finish some genealogy work for my daughter. I was married to one of their sons but have lost touch with all the family.

I am tied into Agens/ Agans via Eugene Agens m. Caroline Shoars Sussex County area late 1800s....can you shed any light on the spelling differences or family lines?

Eugene Agens (watch spelling) was the son of Peter Agans 1805 - 1887 and Susan Degroot Clickner. Peter was the son of Robert Agans born 1773 and Mary Emans born 1783. Lots more info

well here is a little bit of info.
(wayne)dad married my mother(karen walker) on 12-23-71 with one child resulting (me)jennifer diane agans. i was born 2/14/73.they later divorced summer of 80 or 81,not sure. dad then married nancy ? ainsworth.she had 3 children from a previous marriage.tami (ainsworth) epley,age 39? robert age 27, jeffrey age 25?. i think that they divorced,but i'm not sure. dad is in a nursing center, because he has lou gherigs disease.
if i think of anything else,i'll let you know.now what can you tell me about your side? any info would be nice.
