YOUNGSTOWN – Melvin Agee, 59, passed away on Saturday, July 31, 2010, at Cleveland Clinic, Cleveland, Ohio following a lengthy illness.
Born in Youngstown, Ohio on March 5, 1951, he was the son of the late Arthur and Callie Lewis Agee.
After graduating from high school, Melvin served in the U.S. Air Force from 1969 to 1971. He was employed as a laborer at Laborers’ International Union until his health began to fail. Melvin enjoyed fishing and loved to cook and spending time with his family was a very important part of Melvin’s life.
Melvin was preceded in death by his father, Rev. A.D. Agee.
Melvin will be sadly missed by his mother, Callie Agee, formerly of Youngstown; wife Peggy Price Agee, son Marcus Anthony Agee, and granddaughter Alaya Agee, all of Youngstown; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Soundra McCants and Rev. Linda and Phillip Taylor, all of New Castle, Pa.; three aunts; two uncles; devoted nephew Andre Martin; nieces and nephew Michelle Taylor of Maryland, Kyra and Michael Taylor, all of New Castle; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be today, Aug. 5, 2010, from 10 to 11 a.m. at St. Luke A.M.E. Zion Church, 603 Harbor St., in New Castle,Pennsylvania where the service will take place at 11 a.m. Pastor Arthur Holloway will officiate.
Military interment will be at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies in Bridgeville.
Arrangements are being handled by the Charlotte A. Sheffield Funeral Home, 454 Chestnut St. in New Castle.
