Misty, I hope you are still getting info from posts to your inquiry about the Agee family. Your great-grandparents were my grandparents. My son, Richard, is currently researching the Agee family and has information that might interest you, and vice-versa. I'm sure we would all be interested in hearing more about Aunt Rose's life and family after we lost touch with Dad's family. My brother, Andy, introduced me to 'Willie' Carpenter as a relative when I lived in Ca for a few years, maybe your grandfather? I think he lived in Fontana? You don't have my dad,Lynn, listed, but Aunt Rose called him Lem. They also had a brother Henry who died in 1921 and is buried in the Pioneer Cemetery in Middletown, Ohio. Also, a sister, Grace, who married Hugh Robinson. This branch of the family moved to Ohio between 1910-1920.
BacI a few more generation we come to James Agee and Nancy (Moon) Agee, which is were our Cherokee ancestry started. The Cherokee connect was all but lost because it was illegal for indians to be in Missouri at that time.
I do not know if I can help or not. I am a descend of James Agee and Nancy Moon. Jams Agee was the son of Matther (Engllish spelling) who came from France. He left France because of religious persecution. After Being In Amsterdam for a time and helping William of Orange, he was given a land grant in Virginia. If I can help I will but your branch goes a different direction the James Agee.

Joseph Agee died 1905 Longmont, CO

I am not related to this family…

Longmont Ledger (Longmont, Boulder County, Colorado)
Sep 15, 1905 Page 1

DIED

AGEE--In Longmont, Wednesday night September 13, 1905, the result of an accident, Joseph Agee, aged about 19 years.
Joseph Agee was an employee of the sugar factory, and was working on a ladder on the third floor Monday morning, when for some cause he lost his hold fell to the first floor, a distance of from 35 to 38 feet. He fell through the openings made in the floor to take up the heavy machinery now being placed in the factory, and as he fell he struck a large pulley on the second floor, and landed in the engine pit in the basement. His skull was fractured, and the doctor took out three pieces in a subsequent operation; his jaw was broken, and there is good reason to suppose that he received internal injuries.
He did not return to consciousness sufficient to tell anything about his relatives, who cannot be located. He was taken to the Longmont hospital and cared for, though it was evident from the start that he could not live.
This should be a lesson for every man away from friends and relatives to carry some record or addresses in his pocket. It might be the means of saving his own life.

Find-a-grave memorial # 60875731
I've been doing a lot of research as my mother passed away 8 years ago. She (Kathryn Whiles) discovered the connection to Mathieu but I don't have anything before that.

Sorry don't know exact details but a old family story and a Couzen that confirmed some of it. Right after the war many slaves took on the last name because they were treated so well (if that is possible) the Farm was around Richmond Virginia and had strong ties in Christian community which all slaves practice on the farm. Some stayed and a few went west. He confirmed some names at a slave cemetery but most slaves did not have stones or made of wood and long gone now. My Couzen has past and could not get any documents from his wife. Sorry good luck in quest.
