My grandfather was Oliver Boyd Adgent fro Caney Springs, Tennessee. He had a brother named Ira and that is all I can find out about him. He died in the 40s and is buried in the Allen Cemebery at Caney Springs. He and his wife Leota Chadwell owned the Allen Farm and it is now owned (falling down from lack of care) by a daughter of Iva Lee somebody who was a cousin to my grandmother. She became too old and sold the farm to this woman andher daughter has let it decay and fall down. It was used as an army hospital during the Civil War. I can remember it as a child was beautiful and now just a nightmare. I, too want to find out about the Adgent or Agent family. My Father was Robert Lewis, his brother was Paul and is sister was Lena Rivers Adgent Bell. We have found some Adgent relatives in Scotland and they say that their family came from Lithuania and they spell it Adgent as we did. i do not believe that our name was ever Edgin or Egin. That does not make any sense to me at all since it was always pronounced "agent" and that is pretty self-explanatory. If you know anything further please advise.
