I'm not sure if anyone is still doing research on the Adgent family tree but I hope so. My great grandmother was Lillie Parle Adgent and married my great grandfatehr George Allen Scott. She passed away in Marshall County, TN in 1933. I believe her father was Solomon Jenkins Adgent. It has been very hard getting past her dad on the tree limbs so I am not actually sure I ever will!

My great-grandmother is Lillie Parlee Agent born 8/27/1877 and died 5/05/1933 in Marshall County, TN. She married George Allen Scott. Do you have any information about her?

Ira Adgent was my grandfather and was the brother to the following: James F., William, George J., Sarah F., Newton, Lillie, Oliver Boyd, Ben J., and Samuel. There is a question about Newton as one source (1900 soundex) says he is the son of Josiah; however, Ira's obituary and family oral history says Newton and Ira are brothers.

Years ago I gave copies of my research to Tony Adgent, a descendant of Oliver Boyd Adgent, as well as to most descendants of Ira Adgent. I no longer have time to conduct family history research and am not interested in photocopying massive amounts of information; however, I will answer specific questions if any descendants of Solomon Jenkins Adgent/Edgin/Agent/Edging, etc. want to e-mail me at adgent05@optonline.net. If you are willing to share info. I don't have, primarily generations before Jenks, I would appreciate it. Thanks.

I just happened to come across this while searching for some other info. I don't know if I would be much help but Edgar was my uncle and my mothers brother. He had a barber shop in Shelbyville and 5 daughters. We have lost touch with the daughters but I know there are at least 2 that are deceased.I would like some info on them if possible.
The info I have on Edger's wife is that she died on 2/22/1953 at the age of 41. Her parents were Lena Faulk Thomas and
William Alexander Thomas and she had a sister by the name of Sara Nash. If you would like a copy of what I have I will be glad to share with you and I would like to know where the daughters are, if they are still in Shelbyville.If you would like to have it you can email me with your address and I will send it to you. Check the Shelbyville Tenn. (Bedford county) area for adgents, quite a few there. My granfather was Edgar adgent ( Owned a barber shop in Shelbyville), he had 5 daughters: Edna, Joanne, Rena, Peggy and Dean.I'm trying to find info on his wife (my grandmother) as she died before I was born and most of our famiy records were destroyed in a fire. any other relatives in that area who would like to find and get to me as well. or any history prior to my grandfather would be appreciated.

I believe that your Mary Edgin may have been a daughter of Moses Edgin. Edgin and Agent are the same family. Spelling was never a strong suite in the family.

Carol, look for Edgin. Agent is a very common spelling of the name. My great greatgrandfather, Samuel Edgin (or Agent, or Edggin or Eding or a dozen other spellings) lived in Maury Co., TN next county over from Hickman.

I wondered if Lillie Parle was actually Lillie Pearl and someone didn't know how to spell very well. In my grandmother's bible her last name is spelled Adgent but in the census records it is Agent. Just read your inquiry about some agents. There are a lot of
similarties but the dates are a little different, The Lillie I have listed was Lillie Pearl Adgent and she married a Doc Freeman
She was born December 1874.
If you would like more info, send me your address and I will send you a copy of what I have. We spelled it Agent or Adgent
Solomon was my great grandfather, Ira Lee Adgent was my grandfather.
I have a lot of info on the adgents. As they are on my mothers side of the family and she was from Marshall County. Her parents had 10 children so there was quite a few.

I just got started today, trying to do some family tree work. I hope you still check this sight out. My grandmother was Lena Adgent Bell. She only died about two years ago at the age of 93. She was married to Allen Bruce Bell who died in 1963 I believe. There is a cemetary in Caney Springs that has a lot of that family buried there I do believe. I felll upon this page by chance. I see that you are asking for Adgent/Agent information. My grandfather was Oliver Boyd Adgent/Agent. They spelled it both ways, I guess they were not too educated; however, Thomas Jefferson didn't write or wpell well either. My grandfather was a farmer in Caney Springs, Tennessee. My grandfather had a brother named Ira. That is all I know about them;however, I do know that they were Irish and my brother has found some Adgents in England who say that their ancestors came from Lithuania. If any of you have information on the Chapel Hill, Caney Springs Adgents/Agents let me know. My father was Robert lewis Adgent, his brother Paul Adgent and his sister was lena Adgent Bell. My name is George Edging, My dad's name was George Edging but on my grandfather's tombstone is the name Abraham Agent. My great grandfather who is buried in the same graveyard has the name of Abraham Edging.

Have you ever been to any of the family reunions? Usually they are held at Bobbie's house (the son of Nellie Agent which is Otto's (my grandfather) sister. What part of Tennessee are you from. My dad and grandparents still live in Memphis. I was born there, but my parents divorced when I was 6 and my mom and I moved to Austin, TX. Are you familiar with Otto's other children: Clydie (also known as Virginia) and Helen? Have you ever met my dad (Richard) ?
This is interesting to me. I don't know much about the Agent family and am very interested in our heritage.

Years ago I was given a picture of my great grandparents with their names written on the back--Joseph Aaron Beard and Mary Leonard Beard. I had assumed that Leonard was Mary's maiden. Yesterday I found my Grandfather's death certificate and it gave his mother's name as Mary Agent who was born in Hickman Co., TN. In looking at census index books for TN, the name Agent does not seem to be very common in middle Tn. Does anyone know something about Mary's family? Her name is possibly Mary Leonard Agent. According to 1900 census her dob is May 1853. She died prior to 1910 census. Any help would be appreciated.

I just found out a few weeks ago that my great grandmother's name was Agent and do not have any info yet. Wednesday while at the archives,I was looking in an index for the 1860 Tn census at the listing of Agent for a family with a child named Mary about 7 years of age and accidently started to copy a Solomon Agent age 24 with wife Mary age 25 and son Samuel M. age 3. I stopped at this point so did not write any more info. If you feel that you want more on this person I can check the next time I am at the archives. Do you have a dob for your Solomon and Rebecca?

The name AGENT came from the Federal Agents that were in charged of relocating the native americans back in the 1800's. The name was adopted by a native american that when asked what his name was, he pointed at the Agent's badge.....Our family are primarily Cherokee/Anglo.....My name is William...and have sisters by the name of Monica Agent, Ana Agent; brothers Curtis Agent and Gary Agent. There is one other Sister that we have no idea what her name is. My goal is to find her and complete the family.

My great-grandmother was Mollie Edgin (died 1918 in Webster County, KY). Her father is listed as John Edgin on her death certificate.

My grandmother (Mary Phronia Reynolds Fulkerson) listed Mollie as born in Cheatam County, TN when "Phroney" applied for Social Security.

There is a John Edgin in Henderson County, KY listed as father-in-law in 1910 census born in TN.

Any one know anything about John or Mollie, his daughter?

great grandfather was William Jackson Agent, grandfather was
George Mac Agent, and my father was Emmett Lester Agent, all
born in Mississippi. I can find no information of who

My great grandmother was Lillie Parle Agent (1875) - her father went by "Jink" Agent (1843) but I believe him to be Solomon Jenkins Agent. His wife went by "Becca" Jane or B.J. but I believe these were knicknames for Rebecca Jane White (Solomon's wife). Lillie Agent married George Allen Scott.
I am talking about Marshall County, Tennessee. Can you shed any light on my family order? There were a couple other Agent households according to the census. I feel certain they are all related but don't exactly know how this puzzle goes together. Ha!
